People transferring is part of attrition and doesn’t help you sign more than 25 a year. It does help in keeping your total scholarship limit of 85.

hurts is a grad transfer so that doesn’t open a spot. But 4 players leaving a year early doesn’t mean Bama can sign four new 4 year players, does it? How does 1 year on four spots turn into 4 years in four spots? Makes no sense.

All I'm saying is that Bama can sign up to 5 more prospects in this class.

They have a few players paying there on way. Look at Bears Grandson.

How can that happen? I thought they changed the rules on limits a couple of years ago. Is it like the other poster says because some of their recruits are paying their own way? That would put them at 33 recruits...that seems ridiculous.

Lee is supposedly rescheduling his visit to A&M due to a conflict with a basketball game.

They've only signed 24 right now. And two of those (Paul Tyson and Will Reichard) might not have actually signed yet and could possibly grayshirt (according to several Bama recruitniks).

I think their actual number is 28 or 29.

On top of the guys they signed, they have 4 current commits. One of those, Christian Williams, they do not expect to be in their class. So they probably have room for 3 more uncommitted guys.

Because they are still bound by the 25/year rule and all of it's variations. No, 25 is not a hard cap, but they can't sign more than 25 + whatever they can count back to last year. Now they do have 4 more scholarships under the 85, so if there are walk ons that can be given one, that's an option now

Right. And that's AT LEAST 3 and more likely 4. So...They can sign AT LEAST 28 and more likely 29 this year.

Saban cancelled Lee’s trip to Tuscaloosa so he is all ours.

But the 4 today don’t change the 28 to 32. I thought that’s what you were saying. If not, my bad and disregard

What's the 4 today?

They're definitely not going to be able to "sign" 32 guys, but I do think they're going to add as many as 31 scholarship caliber players this year.

I believe they can sign 29 this year. And despite them showing as having signed in December, Bama recruiting guys are saying that Paul Tyson and Will Reichard didn't actually sign and might start out as walk ons.

If both of those guys are going to do that, then they've actually signed 22 and can sign up to 7 more guys.

They currently have 4 unsigned commitments and do not expect one of those guys to stick (Christian Williams). So they're looking to add as many as 4 new commitments, assuming they hold on to the other three currently committed guys.

22 - confirmed signed guys
2 - walk on (grayshirt) candidates
3 - current commits they expect to keep
4 - new commits they hope to land

28 has been their number. How’d they get to 29?

There are a couple of possibilities:
QB from Arkansas they took last year was really a walk on.

Non qualifier from 2017 class never actually signed an LOI.

Hopefully he's just enjoying taking some visits and he ends up in the class. I know a couple of the insiders on here think he's going to be.

If they are dangling a shot to play TE, then it may be more than that.

We really should have a sticky at the top of the recruiting board with a summary on how many players can be signed and the rules.
