Buying a car in Opelusas today. The salesman knows the family and said Dashaun's dad wants him at LSU. Don't know if he is a take or not.

I think if the Trey Holly situation was still murky he would be a take.

Now i'm not so sure. Maybe later in the cycle

Is he the one that also plays LB?

With expanded rosters, I think he ends up in this class. Whether it’s at RB or LB, just get him on campus and figure it out

Next season, Jackson will be our only power back. I think he's definitely a take.

It’s 2024. There’s no need for “power backs”

CMC, James Cook, Kyren Williams and Deandre Swift were 4 of the top 5 rushers in the nfl last season.

Power backs are a thing of the past

You named a bunch of backs that played for different teams. Diversifying the skillset of the running backs on the same team is still a benefit. And from that perspective, power backs still have a place.

It doesn't sound like LSU is buying the car so chances are slim.

At 85, I think it’s pretty clear he could’ve been on the outside looking in.

At 105, he’s in.

I think the OP was the one buying a car. Subtle brag on his part!

In 2022, Noah Cain was our power back and he rushed for 5.4 ypc and led all RBs with 10 TDs. The next closest was Josh Williams with 6.

Compare the size of an NFL roster with the new college roster size. It’s not the same thing and not really a valid comparison. A P5 program can afford to diversify the RB position where an NFL team has to be a lot more selective with fewer spots available.

He should be in the class. I’m guessing the staff told him they want to see his senior tape before they give a commitable offer. Probably why he’s still uncommitted.

You say that until you see a good rushing team with a power back….brings a whole different element to the offense.

Even with fewer spots available, NFL teams still diversify their backfields. You still have to be able to run the football with power to close out games and win ugly games when the weather gets bad, especially if you play outdoors. The Chiefs might be known for finesse, but their power run game was excellent in the playoffs last season. Pacheco is a hell of a physical back. He’s fun to watch.

Yep.

These linebacker are getting faster.
But they are also getting smaller.

Not saying that a team has to commit to a 230# Rb and a 250# fb. But power running attack can be placed in a team’s playbook and used when they want.

And once you see ball control teams learn that they can do the hurry up and wait offense, it’s a game changer.
