I mean, we were all saying this after Burrow put up historic numbers. We have been saying this for two decades with the crazy skill position players LSU always has on the roster, but for whatever reason, no top rated QBs want to come… until after they tried somewhere else first. This is all to say, what seems obvious to us doesn’t seem obvious to a lot of these kids.

Well after Burrow Jayden Daniels and Underwood both want to come - that was only 4 years ago

247 had Jayden the #1 dual threat by 247 and #2 on composite. He was at ASU before Burrows historic season.

Now I can get behind this Portal move. If Nuss wins out great. After Nuss moves on Donte bridges the gap of the Freshman and Sophomore QBs

If you notice the common trend between Burrow and Jayden… it’s that they don’t explode at LSU until their second full season in the program. These top QBs not going to LSU as freshman and only coming in late in their career as transfers is better than nothing for us, but imagine what we would be if we got QBs of that quality in as freshman and were developed in house… we could be getting two-three years of that type of production instead of having to play development catchup with transfers. It’s mind blowing that Les’ stench and stigma of bad QB development lingers, hopefully that changes with Underwood.

Guys, we can’t hurt Nuss’s feelings. Stop it

I don’t give a shite about player’s feelings. But it’s folly not to consider the impact to your current roster when looking at portal options - at any position.

So if you take a transfer, especially at QB, you should know that player is better than what you have.

From a recruiting rankings perspective, Moore is better than Nuss. Is he better next year, though?

If not, is he willing to sit?

I’m for it. He’s definitely the most intriguing portal QB yet.

Okay now this one is a take. Young, and could push Nuss. May not be expecting to immediately start as well.

Why is everyone so high on Moore, his numbers this year were awful, and doesnt appear to run that much or well. Not every Pac12 QB is going to be JD.

I swear there are too many fans with their heads up their asses. Nuss was highly recruited and came here. Howard was our most highly recruited QB ever and came here. We got QBs after Burrow. Hard to develop in house and get years of production when you keep bringing in transfers.

I agree. Hence the rest of the post.

It’s simply one data point.

The coaches need to do their homework on this one but this kid is coming out saying he does not care about playing right away and that he just wants to be developed. LSU needs to go after this kid unless we think it screws up Bryce.

He's already transferred once. He might have to sit for a year. So, Nuss gets 2024, Moore has a year to learn the system and starts 2025, and whoever we get from the 2025 class isn't quite ready in 2026, we have Collins.

I don't recall him transferring. He was a true freshman at UCLA, after flipping from Oregon. We were certainly in play up close until the early signing period.

Shea says bringing him in would cause chaos for the qb room (Nuss , Collins , and even Underwood possibly)

If they're scared of competition, then frickem.

It's in the best interest of the program to maintain quality competition at the quarterback position.

None of the guys returning next year have proven anything.

We may think Nuss is the guy, but he still needs to go out there and earn it. And hopefully the competition is better than a red shirt freshman and a true freshman. You can't just hand a guy the job because he's been in the program 3 years.
