This shite can happen with a coaching change. O had been recruiting all through 2016 and still got beat out by Saban for several top in-state guys that year. Then that dropped off a cliff and he wasn’t pulling just anyone he wanted anymore from 2017-2020.

Let’s see if the new staff can stabilize things that well next year.

He’s depth guys. He’s not starting for us next year and he is certainly not starting for bama. Why they’re going so hard after him is probably strategic to get their foot in the door for the 2023 safety from his highschool. Plus you can wait till after spring and basically find a starting tight end in the portal.

Ummm have you seen our depth at TE?He would literally be competing for playing time immediately.

He’d get reps but he would not be our starter. He’d be a true freshman 3 star.

50-60% means they don't know and it's virtually a toss up with a little edge to Bama.

Let's wait and see what he decides.

Bama didn't care at all till lsu showed they cared, he's pretty much guaranteed to be competing to play immediately at LSU and its pretty much the opposite at Bama. Kelly has a great reputation for using TEs, but Saban...not so much. IF the guy goes to Bama after what Kelly's done for him then let him go, he's just not smart

This is sad.

I hope these CBs are incorrect. Lewis would have a much better chance at early playing time if he chooses LSU.

We only sign one! The BK recruiting hype train ends with the portal guys he signed. Better hope something changes with his dancing! We have some talent in state that could slip away easily…Frank has missed before and can’t out recruit money.

My, my… that’s quite a lot of bitching for a high school recruiting forum, Samantha1.

He can get a ton of playing time at LSU but will never ever ever play at Bama.

Recruiting is an informed crap shoot. Danny Lewis might end up the best tight end in the country, much less Bama.

If we go 4 for 6, that includes Matthews and Perkins, I will rest easily. Also is Lewis and impact tight-end ready to play today? Is he better than Taylor? Or could we be holding out for Washington?

Alabama was late to the party on this as well. It just doesn’t make sense.

You have no idea what you're talking about. It could make perfect sense.

Scenario: Bama comes in late with twice the NIL money...say, $200,000 per year. It makes perfect sense that he would go to Bama. I would have.

You give up potential playing time, prep from one of the best TE coaches and give up all that actual exposure and film for the nfl to sit behind 7 other TEs….for $200k

Maybe I’m just different? But that shite makes zero sense to me

Lewis is a high character, high IQ kid.

Let’s face it: LSU, Florida and Alabama were all late offers.

LSU offer Jan. 12, Bama offer Jan. 19

What does that have to do with anything? He would still get the chance to compete for playing time at a position of need.We don’t even know what offense we will be running.A lot of offenses have 2 TE sets close to the goal line etc.No one saying he will be a starter but when you are thin at a position if you can play you can get on the field some.Unlike if he goes to Alabama he be lucky to ever sniff the field and definitely not before his junior season at best

Maybe so, but he was committed to Denbrock at Cincy and he literally has a shot to start as a FR at LSU.
