Well, I'm a fan of the kid, and I hope he can live his dream at some point.

I talked to a lady today who told me her family moved from Missouri to Louisiana because her daughter wanted to go to LSU. She’s not an athlete, just a regular student. Anyway, this is her Senior HS year, and she decided to go to Southeastern.

The mom was rolling her eyes about the whole thing.

This is Jakes Dad. Just want to thank yall for the support and kind words. He is working hard everyday in the classroom, (4.03 GPA) and running track, and trains 4 nights a week. He is growing! He should hit 5'11" and hopefully be 190lbs by the time the season starts. I'm shocked how his story has spread out to so many people. I'm also humbled by the support he receives from people he has never met. Yes, he bleeds purple and gold. I always told him to chase his dream and one day, he can share his story and journey with many kids who have the same dreams. All his mom and I did was try to put him where he has a better chance, even if it is a slim chance. But I also told him to never have regrets!

He knows it is a long shot to get to LSU, but he will continue to work his butt off until he has to decide where he will go to college. He just got his first offer on Monday. So the process has begun.

Again, thank you all for the love and support!

Right on man. My son is a Sr and a football player and that process was pretty unreal. I took him to an LSU camp the summer before his 7th grade yr and just lied to them and told them he was going into 9th. He was one of the top players and was selected to kick with a snapper and holder at the end, when they were evaluating the snappers. Pretty much changed his life. Brought him back before the 9th grade and he got to meet Cade York…every piece of gear he had was LSU after that.

Having a dream makes all the difference in the world to young men…you and I we’re lucky, but definitely not alone, to raise boys who strived to beat the odds.

LSU never called.

He got 3 SEC scholarship offers and is going to Florida this summer. His first road trip as a Gator will be to Tiger Stadium…pretty ironic. Hopefully one day he’ll set a record in that stadium. That would be the icing on the cake.

quote:

When I was around eight my Saturday cartoons just ended, and LSU played a early day game and just started to watch it. This was in the early 70's so you didn't have a lot of games on.

For some reason I just got hooked on LSU. Always got the sport section from my dad's newspaper and looked for any news of the tigers. I got my dad to become a fan before he died and even took him to some games in death valley. My mom became a bigger fan than him. Dad died one month before Joe burrow played his first game. Was a tough year for mom but watching Joe play and winning the natty gave us a way of escaping his death.

Funny thing is Dad was born just outside of Knoxville and Mom was born in Tuscaloosa. But both became true tigers.

You just broke my cool story meter.
