Finley wil never play QB beyond high school. Sophser is lazy as hell. He will be a bust in college. Devonta Lee is good and worth recruiting. Sophser, let him sign elsewhere.

Said the same I think he’s outgrown the position release is extremely long.

Is this kid camping? Being at a small school has normally never stopped QBs.

. Also, what classification is this? They are playing on a field with some removeable bleachers. Does CD have a stadium?

Metairie Park Country Day has always fluctuated between 1A and 2A classification - around 40 students per graduating class. Tuition is $25K as emphasis is on academics vs. athletics. They probably dress out 30 kids as the best athletes go both ways, typical of small schools. The football field (definitely not a stadium) is on campus, and their tradition is to play home games at 3:30 ~ 4:00 pm because they never had lights until last year. Pre-2017, the school had to rent portable lights for playoff games that were scheduled at night. One end of the field is bordered by RR tracks and not uncommon for trains to be passing by during the game - i.e. the old Alex Box.

Ibieta spent last summer playing AAU basketball and travel baseball. I bet his interest will shift and be at football camps this year.

Some kids just don't care anymore when they know the big want them.

The kid from Amite with the brother and all that buzz was not very impressive in this game.

Watched Sophie against Country Day and it was pathetic. Playoff game st home against competition he should have dominated and he was hardly a factor.

I understand HS kids being lazy against overmatched teams in easy wins, but in that environment Sopsher should have produced something and he pissed it away.

Finley just does not impress. Looks slow on his feet, not a threat to run whatsoever. Average release. Hope Im wrong.

good friend of mine as I played at St. Martin's same time job played at CD (mid 80's). John threw for 8,000+ yds in 3 yrs which was huge numbers back in the day. He signed with Penn State and after several years came back home.

I played against him my junior and senior years. We played them at home my junior year and he/they torched us 36-6. We went down there my senior year and they beat us 21-18 on a late TD. John was for real. One of those years they got beat in the semifinals by an unreal Kentwood team.

LINK to NOLA.com full article of Country Day vs Catholic N.I. game

Quote from Indest (Catholic-N.I. coach)

“I have to go back to my third game as a coach in 1996 when we beat (former LSU and Green Bay Packers quarterback) Craig Nall and Alexandria, 71-70, to find one like this,” he said. “I gotta tell you, Ibieta, if that kid isn’t an All-State quarterback, I’ve never seen one. That was just unbelievable. He’s the best football player – and I played against (LSU commit) Derek Stingley last week, and I know Stingley has the NFL pedigree – but Ibieta, that guy is a stallion.”

The Advocate's article on the game.

Sounds like LSU may have multiple options at QB in Louisiana in 2020.

Been saying it. CEO needs to get this kid. Ibieta has IT as a QB with the physical tools coaches covet. To do what he did with Country Day all season against who they played? Exceptional.
