Kiner's kept an eye on LSU's season as the early signing period approaches for him when he'll ink with the Tigers. Despite the 2-3 record, he's optimistic the future is bright in Baton Rouge.
"The record doesn't really reflect how they're doing as a team, in my opinion. I feel like they're building something great," Kiner explained. "The circumstances right now haven't really been in their favor. I'm locked in and I'm still in love with them. Hasn't changed my opinion on them."

Supposedly the coaches all offseason told recruits to expect to see a rough season but that we'd be back on track in 2021, so at least they didnt sunshine pump them like they did the fans

Which is like Coach O playing chess not checkers. I think it was Derrick Davis’ parents saying Penn State was telling them this was the best team they’ve had in years. Sometimes honesty is what wins these guys over.

I know derrick Davis's dad was the one that said it would be a down year
The minute I heard that, I knew it meant good news for other recruits
They are selling we need you to build another championship team and obviously it's working
Just think if they had told parents we will be right back in championship contention.

It is a great tactic. It plays on the psychology/marketing of instead of being "the next guy", being "the guy". It plays on being the hero, instead of the past heroes replacements.

Will be our feature back in his sophomore year, imho. I'm calling it. He's a low-center-of-gravity- bowling -ball, perfect for this system.

Hopefully Bradford sticks around. They'd make a nice 1-2 punch with Kiner's shiftiness and Bradford's breakaway speed.

Perfect for this system is a Reggie Bush type. Of course a low center of gravity guy, like Barry Sanders, is perfect for EVERY system, but so is a high COG guy like Bo Jackson. Greatness works in any system.

Would you rather him have said publicly "Our defense is light years worse than last year"
or.... maybe just speak positively, knowing all the changes we faced there?

What's the point of tell the truth Monday if you lie?
Just be honest and specifically state "we have a lot of new players on D they will eventually get adjusted but I expect some growing pains"

I doubt we are even trying to. At some point this "Christmas" list of kids people think we can fit in this class, all while not dropping anyone and saving a spot or 2 for transfers has to end right? The varying degrees of insanity are why I love this place.
I like Kiner myself. Not to say I don't think there are better prospects out there(I'm an LJ Johnson fan myself), I just think Kiner fits. We don't have anyone like him currently and we just witnessed a similar type guy have a great impact last season.
The coaches hedging to kids about the possibility of this season being down is impressive to me. Generates more authenticity imo. For the type of kids we seem to want authenticity and trust matter.

I'm not sure you actually read what I said, which was specifically behind the scenes to recruits they had been saying the season was going to be rough. Then I said it sucks to the fans we were told things different, like you just said.
