Can anyone help us understand where LSU sits with developing NIL momentum?

I understand a bill was passed. I understand we do not have blank check money like a few competitors out there. But I know very little about what progress has been made, if the efforts seem worthwhile and how people close to the program feel it is going/what the finish product is supposed to look like.

I would bet that Brian Kelly and LSU isn’t into throwing money at recruits this early in the process. Come December and February there will be bidding wars and the highest bidders will win.

Agreed! I think with the NIL issue LSU is trying to make up for their relative lack of resources by waiting and then dishing what they do have to kids towards NSD in effort to flip. Obviously we have to have a more concentrated radar for recruits, but again, I don’t know much and don’t hear a ton. Kids are committing which means we’ve got something going, but what is it and what is to come?

Also, LSU is very likely wanting to see what the portal has to offer. With these publicized NIL deals this portal is going to be ridiculously rich by the end of the year. BK already mentioned this not long ago on targeting the portal. This disaster syndrome on this board is overkill. Let some time pass. Nobody has signed yet.

They did exactly what you said with Perkins. LSU just came out of nowhere and outbid TAMU for him. Blue chip high end competitive players there's no reason to push hard for high end recruits right now. NIL bids are illegal to sign right now because that's being used as an instrument in recruiting. Nobody is signing anything. You can still make your bid. When you're on Ebay are you one of those guys who inflates the price 3 days before the auction is over or wait until the last 15 seconds to bid?

It’s Gordon McKernan and the combo of Matt Moscona and Ryan Theriot leading the NIL charge for LSU

I'm not even believing some of these NIL deals being tossed around. It sounds to me like someone floating the shite out there to get more money for the recruits. I just don't believe Miami is dumb enough to dump 5-10 million on a guy who's not even a generational talent and could be an instant bust. Could you imagine how much their class would cost? Rich people love money more than anything else and they ain't sustainable for anyone. That's money for a talent you're 100% sure is a man amongst boys in college like everyone knew Patrick Peterson would be.

If you're going to inflate the market for a QB like that you're fricking yourself. What do you think a generational talent is wanting? These deals are hard to believe. You're looking at numbers similar to 1st round picks in NFL. That's bullshite. It's not believable.

No one on here will know. But you can tell by the pattern of commitments and where they’re going to see who the players of the NIL world are

Notice there has been no insider activity on this board lol. The usual suspects are MIA

has LSU formed any sort of collectives that offer nil payments to players? For example University of Texas has the Clark Field Collective which made 10 million dollars in commitments for NIL activities and also has the Horns With Hearts nonprofit group also involved in organizing NIL payments

Lol good point. Guess I got a little over my skis but thank you guys for some good discussion instead of ripping each other’s heads off. I yield to our Captain to deliver news when it comes

I imagine BK has been talking to some of the boot boys about some possibilities. Sampson, Heard, etc you would think would be offered something just because their potential is very high. A very low risk of being a bust.

All so many of you do is complain. BK and LSU are taking a measured approach. No, they don't plan to just throw out money and see how things shake out.

LSU is being methodical and doing their homework. If the staff doesn't feel a player is worth what they're demanding you have to pass. Can't set bad precedent

These players haven't played a down yet. What do you think Russell Shepard would've commanded and he didn't do anything notable in the Purple and Gold

We've closed on guys like Harold Perkins, Quency Wiggins, Sevyn Banks and Will Campbell. So this staff can close and compete with NIL, they just aren't taking the UT and A&M approach. Players only go there for $$$ for the most part, but LSU has legacy, tradition, recent success and draft capital to pull recruits.

I want the players that want LSU and not those looking for a payday because they'll be back in the portal for the next payday before you know it

Kelly already said LSU is not high on throwing money at high school seniors that haven’t contributed to the program over players already here. I expect BK has his plan. He doesn’t strike me as unprepared.
