Finally we have a basketball coach who will actually complete a roster. In one month he has left no stone unturned even after a late start due to the timing of Trent leaving. That bodes well for the future when he can start working on the jr class.

Without question Bubba. The state of Louisiana is loaded especially in 2014 with Craig Victor (who is now 6'8) of St Augustine. By the way, Hammond Tiger is a cousin of Victor however; I have a cousin who will be playing for St Augustine next year who is a 6’7 (legitimate height) junior is currently playing for the Louisiana Dynasty AAU team. Louisiana will be a "hot bed" for recruiting in a short period of time.

Welcome Godfrey! I am happy now. Johnny has met my expectations with recruiting and then some. If we don't sign anyone else I still think it will be an excellent year as we have gotten nothing but quality.

Of course the hard part is still before him which is taking all of these individuals and make them into a team. If he can do that look out SEC!!

This all being said I have NO damn idea what our starting lineup will look like next year if we land Udoh. We could go a number of directions...

This is very true. And rather than worried about who starts I think if we are indeed going to play a very high paced, running type of game then backups will be a need.I dont mind having 7 guys deserve starter minutes cause I think having the fresh legs will have everyone playing better.

As much as I would love for some extra spots for next years recruiting class, I think the time to "right the ship" is now, especially with the JC guys. As a few have said Godfrey would love love love to be a 1 and done, and that would be fine with me if he plays that kind of ball next season. Using the JC route is the best way to quickly get a team from point A to point B without leaving yourself no scholarships in the future.

C: Udoh
PF: JOB III
SF: Coleman
SG: Turner
PG: Hickey

I believe this is probably where we should start, but I would imagine Godfrey getting significant minutes and probably releaving Udoh and moving JOBIII down low. They would definitely be moving those 3 players in and out a good bit.

Having Coleman and Hammink at SF at 6'6" would really give us a pretty tall SEC team no matter if we have Odoh in or JOB and Godfrey.

And I think everyone has wanted to see Turner/Stringer have 1 position to share, with most of the load probably going to turner. It will be interesting if he can play SG rather than the 3 position he has been use to. I think he can even though his first step is a little slow. His height against some undoubtedly smaller players will allow him to give some extra space.

Now Stringer may have to play some backup PG if one of the new guys don't beat him out for PG minutes, but I am not really sure what will happen there. That's a position that Hickey will be playing 33+ min/g I'd have to imagine. He will be a very important piece to the puzzle.

So glad I have my season tickets in and ready to rock the PMAC!

I have to agree. Like I said, I don't know how it turns out, but CJJ has done more in the last two months than Trent did in the last two years.

JOB is good, but if Godfrey is CJJ's player and good enought to go to the NBA as some suggest, he may bet the start. Not to mention that JOB's conditioning has been questioned in the past. A three man rotation of JOB, Godfrey and Udoh would be pretty damn good IMO.

Im really likingtheroster now and it is exciting to see quality players that we as fans know or have a more than realistic opportunity to come in, develop, and be productive members of the team. With Trent, besides the Hickey and O'Bryant (Lord knows how he convinced him to come with his lack of recruiting ability) I was thorougly unimpressed with the talent he brought in, starting with Dotson.
JJ is going to do just fine in recruiting, if he can coach them up and have good in-game decision making, Johnny can really return LSU basketball back to promise.
Also, its exciting seeing recruits who actually have above-average athletic ability at first glance rather than hoping they "develop in the system" garbage that Trent would spew.
JJ has done in a three weeks what Trent claims to have been doing be for four years! Building a program! The last two years use to drive me with this rhetoric as it was apparent that his idea of building a program was signing marginal players and not discussing which, if any, big time recruits he was in on. I think that hurt Trent the most besides that awful scowl. I wouldnt play for Trent either looking at that disgusted face all day! Anyways, water under the bridge.. GO JJ, GO TIGERS!

Awesome to see such a motivated HC. JJ

So why does scout only list him and morgan as commits? are they just slackers when it comes to LSU basketball?

if a guy committing to play basketball at LSU makes your unit move, that's pretty homo.

I really don't see Godfrey getting the starting nod over JOBIII, not that he wont play a lot. As we sit now I see them both starting. If we get Odoh, I would see more chance of Godfrey starting over Odoh than over JOBIII.

Job's conditioning was questionable last year, but I tell you what, he was a freshman in college. Tell him he needs to run in the offseason to make an NBA team and Im pretty sure he would get his arse out of bed. Job's offensive ability will be very important to this team. Odoh will be a great presence down low on defense, but I see him playing with JOB in the game more than not.

Unless a center is signed, Godfrey and JOB will both start. The only way they won't is if one of them is not in shape.

We still need Udoh or another center. If we don't, we end up with Ludwig and/or Del Piero getting significant minutes. Every team we play will take the ball into the paint until JOB and Godfrey get into foul trouble and then we'll be a lot more beatable.

I'm really pleased with what Jones has done with the roster so far, but our squad is not yet a tournament team next season. Sign Udoh or another big and then I'll get excited.

Jones will go Ludwig and Courtney in the frontcourt all day before Del Piero sees the court, if he is even invited to be on the team next season

He just said he was offered on his ov last week.

ETA: said he signed today and he and shavon are roommates at Hoawrd, and have a great chemistry on the court already.

Likes Jones' up and down offense, said he made a commitment to jones because JJ believed in him.
