We will hire a PGC from the NFL. That will bring Williams

I think develop is the wrong word here. They take a QB that has already developed and proven himself at another usually lesser school and surround him with better athletes against inferior competition. That’s a great formula for instant success. We will see how they develop talent with Rattler. He is a 5 star so it should be easy to make him successful in the Big 12.

Well if the argument is that they are good at developing QBs, then the question of why they keep grabbing transfers needs to be asked.

Same can be said for Burrow

Reality doesn’t matter. Perception matters and the perception is go to Oklahoma and end up in New York. That’s what we’re fighting

Yeah they were so developed at their previous schools that they had to transfer...
What a load of bullshite. Plus, when did LSU develop a QB? It's been over a decade.

Well it helps that we just beat them in New York and in Atlanta

Yeah it's a good decision if he wants great individual stats then get the annual nuts drug across his face in the playoffs or bowl game.

Williams told him he was looking to play for the team that could get him to the pros ready to play. FWIW.
That sounds like a smart decision. If that’s true, then he probably needs to go to an SEC school just to be up against the competition there. I think LSU could wind up being a premier QB school (wtf did I just type). If Brennan performs well, then our odds will go up tremendously.

It sure can. Maybe we used the OU method to get a good QB. Either way, it worked.

The truth hurts I guess. Both Mayfield and Murray were the assumed starters for Tech and A&M but both left to get on a team with a better chance to win. Hurts was a starter until the best QB at the time joined his team. If you think OU developed any of those three, you are the one with the load of BS. Look at Hurts in the game against us and tell me he was any better than the Hurts we played when he was at Bamer. I never claimed LSU developed any QB’s either.

This seems to be a common theme with UGA, Kirby sells the world but fails to deliver.
I’m glad he saw through the b.s.
This is exactly why Fields left. It wasn't that BS just because somebody was being racist.

Jalen Hurts aside, Riley developed both Murray and Mayfield. Murray played a few games at TAMU as a true freshman then transferred. He spent 3 years there. Mayfield was a walk on at Tech and started as a true freshman. He then went to Oklahoma and spent the next 4 years there.
Both of them were groomed by Riley who also groomed Shane Carden at ECU. Riley was the backup to B.J. Symons, and was an assistant under Leach. If this guy doesn't know anything else, he knows QBs.
I don't see Williams there if LSU can keep Brennan working under a similar scheme as Burrow.
Penn St seems like the true competition, but they don't produce NFL QBs.

The type of transfers they got were not developed ones. I said this to somebody else, but Hurts was the only one developed somewhere else. They got both Murray and Mayfield after their true freshman seasons. Murray only played a handful of games.

Maryland is IN IT!... They have 3 of his teammates already committed...

quote:Mayfield left after 8 games as a true freshman. He threw for 2312 yards with 12 TD to 9 int. Webb, a redshirt freshman, threw for 2715 yards 20 TD and 9 int in 10 games that same year at Tech. Webb averaged 7.5 yards per attempt while Mayfield only averaged 6.8 ypa. Two years later after a mandatory RS, Mayfield passed for 3700 yards (9.4 ypa) 68% 36 TD 7 int with another 400 yards and 7 TD on the ground. Webb, the next year after Baker left, threw for 2540 yards and 24 TD to 13 int in 8 games at Tech. Baker left Tech in December because they weren't going to give him a scholarship. Baker was a walk on and they had just gotten Pat Mahomes and thought that Webb, who had better stats, would be the future. So no, there wasn't even a thought of him being the starter for the next year.
The truth hurts I guess. Both Mayfield and Murray were the assumed starters for Tech and A&M but both left to get on a team with a better chance to win.
Murray, as a true freshman played in 8 games and started 3 games. He finished with 686 pass yards (5.7 ypa) 5 TD 7 int with 335 rush yards and 1 TD. He fought with coaches and acted a fool and then ended up transferring. It was right after the regular season and literally a week after Kyle Allen decided to transfer. He had no time to be projected as a starter for the next year.
quote:Like I said, Hurts aside (who was pretty much a finished product playing in a worse defensive conference), they developed QBs because they had em for years. Hell Trevor Lawrence nor Fromm looked good against LSU either. Tua only looked that good because of the breakdowns in the secondary. He got 160 and 2 TDs of his production on literally two bonehead plays by our coaches.
Look at Hurts in the game against us and tell me he was any better than the Hurts we played when he was at Bamer.
