re: Bryce Brown to take unofficial vist to LSU

I think Bryce is a great player. A little overrated by the recruiting sites, but probably one of the top-5 running backs in this class. He is also an intelligent guy, as I said earlier in this thread.
His handler is also an unethical moron, who has done nothing but leach off of these two guys. Somehow, he has fooled their father into thinking he is a legit businessman. His main way of helping clients who don't have the last name Brown is by telling them to lie about imaginary offers from elite colleges. The guy can't even understand the basics of a salary cap
I would love to have both Bryce and Arthur on this team, if there was a guarantee that his handler would have a very limited role and not interfere in their everyday lives. His mentor is a lifelong loser, and through some stroke of luck, he is advising some real talent.
And just ask Maurice Clarett how much bad advisers can screw up a career. When he was in high school, Clarett was also a good student and considered a pretty good kid.
ETA: I think that Bryce is going to K-State, Miami, or Oregon by the way, and no matter what we do, we really don't have a serious shot at him.

Well he will have the number one recruiter in the nation walking around with him probably

I'm not sure what you mean. Is Larry Porter assigned to him? That would make sense, considering he would be the position coach.
But all of the late-comers, whether we are talking about Tenn, USC, or LSU probably have too much ground to cover up.

Agreed, these people who say they don't want him are out of their mind. First, all anyone on this board knows is what they hear or read by someone else with some sort of an agenda. Who on this board who says they don't want him have actually met him? If Miles and staff meet Brown and company and they think he is good for the team then I will leave it up to them to make the judgement.

I haven't seen anything to say that he's broken the law. The only bad thing that has been said is by his High School Coach and he didn't say BB was bad, he talked badly about Butler and the bad advice he has gotten from him.
As for Butler, he's not the first person to do this, a lot of recruites have these kind of guys. BB is just the first #1 recruit to have one.
I say take him and he will have to work hard to pass up Ford. If he does he will play, if he doesn't, he won't play. If he causes distractions and becomes a problem he can get to stepping a la RP, Jarvis Jones, Zamahl Thomas and T. Giddens.

The people that don't want this kid are crazy - OJ Mayo had a handler like this, and everything ended up fine.
Once this kid gets to college, he either obeys the rules, or he ends up transferring. I'm willing to take the risk that he won't work out and have to transfer to get the TOP RUNNING BACK IN THE COUNTRY.

As long as Brian Butler is not hanging out at the practice field of wherever Bryce goes to school, I think he will be fine. He is clearly talented and a pretty intelligent guy.
Brian Butler can't afford to hang out around UM or LSU once the Brown's are signed.
Don't worry about Butler.
And Bryce has shown NO signs of being a problem kid - quite the contrary, he's well spoken and a good student.
The only ones making him out to be a problem are those tards on here that are jealous of Bryce. Period.

Meauxjeaux I agree 100%. I say we give it our best shot. It works fine, if not, we tried.

quote:his coach said their "team chemistry was nonexistant"!! thats not bad? i would understand if we were having this conversation a year ago, before the 08 football season, but after last year, how can you possibly say team chemistry isnt important? to deny this kid doesnt bring baggage is incredibly nieve. the thing that kills me is, we just reeled in an elite class full of great players and great kids. we dont need him, so i dont get why everyone is do desperate to get him
he seems to have no character issues from what I have seen
quote:uhhh, the ncaa? i dont know the ins and outs of the ncaa handbook, but i would think they would be interested that teams are paying anyone for a kid to come play for them-- whether it be the kid, his parents, or his "mentor", its probably against the rules or at worst, looks terrible for our school
Who cares if a trainer or mentor makes some money on the process
quote:fine? theres a pretty gray cloud hovering southern cal from his one year there. between the tickets from melo and alleged "buying" of mayo's services-- i hardly call that ending fine. even if nothing comes of those transgressions, OJ's time at SC was not a good example of handler success
OJ Mayo had a handler like this, and everything ended up fine
ultimately, it doesnt matter what i want. i would prefer we get out of this race and jump on the lache/dyer bandwagon, but whoever les miles thinks is good enough, i will cheer like hell for them in purple and gold.

Bryce Brown please move on and good luck, brian butler sounds to much like an agent to me, anytime I hear a guys own coach bad mouth a recruit it throws up red flags LSU can do without a disruptive force on the team
