The Fans....no chance in hell I would come to LSU after reading the Rant this week. No chance.

The fans will ruin the program before any coach, offense, defense or time of day we play.

Agreed especially the 75% here who never played the game or quit afyer one year.

Agreed. It's the fans who tell Jefferson to take all those sacks. The fans who just about lost to Miss State. The fans who have failed to recruit a decent qb in their tenure at LSU.

Slap a Titans jersey on him and he's a dead ringer!

re: Bama was not truthful to recruits

Posted by fft22 on 3/11/09 at 1:43 pm to
The only reason this is news is because it's Bama. If this had happened at another school, no one would really care.

Either way, I bet that no elite recruiting program is 100% truthfull to their recruits and vice-versa. Recruiting is sort of a sales pitch for both sides. They will amplify the good and sugar coat the bad.

So what?

Exactly.

but really, you can't aruge his character if you've never met him

I'm not. I'm just saying that there is nothing wrong with what Bryce Brown is doing. He doesn't owe it to anyone to sign on NSD. He doesn't owe it to anyone to hint at where he is going. He doesn't owe it to anyone sign quietly or commit early.

The reason he can do what he is doing is because people are interested. The second the media stops covering it is the second it stops. But the point of Deshazier's article (which you seem to have missed) was to not blame Brown for the circus - blame the people who hang on his every word, report his every move, and talk about him all day long, because they are the people that allow it to happen in the first place. Without all the coverage, Brown is just one of thousands of high school kids not sure where he wants to attend college next year.

How many time have you been on ESPN? How many posts on this board are devoted to talking about you? How many websites post constant updates on you?

....So it's not exactly the same, is it?

re: Bryce Brown Article

Agreed 100%. Every idiot on this board constantly crying about Brown's selfishness, attention seeking behavior, character issues etc... is engaged in the ultimate paradox

If you think the kid is just seeking attention, then leave him alone! Stop giving him attention. But we all know that won't happen because - face it - Bryce Brown is interesting. The saga of Bryce Brown is interesting.

Of course, it goes without saying that the people constantly criticizing the character of an 18 year old kid are just as bad. Do these people not remember what they were like at age 18? How would they have handled national attention back then?

The people that don't want this kid are crazy - OJ Mayo had a handler like this, and everything ended up fine.

I hope you were being sarcastic

I wasn't. What has happened to your program as a result of OJ Mayo?

Also, Mayo is definitely not the best example, just the first to pop into my head, but USC did make the tournament almost solely because of Mayo, didn't it?
The people that don't want this kid are crazy - OJ Mayo had a handler like this, and everything ended up fine.

Once this kid gets to college, he either obeys the rules, or he ends up transferring. I'm willing to take the risk that he won't work out and have to transfer to get the TOP RUNNING BACK IN THE COUNTRY.

What's up with this? How come 98% of high school kids committ [sic] and fax over their info on signing day and the 2% exercise their right to be assholes. Hell make them ineligible for a year if they don't do what they are suppose[sic] to do. Too young to have egos like this.

Agreed, but let's not just limit it to high school athletes. Let's make all high school students sign with their colleges by March - if they have not decided by then, then they can go get fricked. Ship their asses off to war. They deserve it for being such attention whores.

Also, let's make a rule that everybody has to pick his/her job within 2 weeks of graduating from college. What are you, some kind of prima donna that doesn't know what he wants to do with his life? frick off, no job for you.

(a) Because you put zero thought whatsoever into your post

(b) I have no idea what you are talking about

(c) This board has a rule about posting the "first thing that pops into your head."

(d) There are 40 other threads on the subject. We really don't need another one

Yes I can. Because I am OBJECTIVE. You guys are calling me a NON LSU fan just because I have a TENN logo??? WOW!!!!

YES (since we love using caps so much). If you are a fan of Tennessee football, then you're not an LSU fan. No LSU fan would ever don the neon puke orange of our inbred conference rivals to the north. You sir, are a volunteer, and I suggest you go find a few other vols and have a nice little vol circle jerk while we Tiger fans discuss Tiger football

You simply cannot call yourself a fan of both Tennessee's and LSU's. They play in the same conference. If you like Tennessee football, you are not an LSU fan. Period.

Being a fan of 2 schools in the SEC may cause a rift in the time space continuum. It could dislodge us from time and have us skipping around in time and space until we all find our contants. It's worse than crossing the beams of proton packs. It's going to open a series of black holes that will eventually suck the milky way into them.

He stole 2 recruits from FLA on NSD and a 5 star from us one day later. What part of that is a fail?
quote:

I just love how this kid is going to handle this early part of the season,

His team is going to lose a lot of games, but it's not going to matter, just like it didn't matter that much to the program when Bama lost to ULM. Saban still pulled a sick recruiting class, and the program is in better shape than ever.

And if they win even one big SEC game, it's going to be a huge for them.

He should have learned from Tubby not to make everyone hate you. It has worked for exactly one guy for about 8 years and thats spurrier, and he mellowed out over time and was a freaking genius in right place at right time. Kiffin is none of the above.

Give him time. He may end up being a joke, or he may end up with a few rings on his finger.

You're an intelligent man

Exactly. And you know what? We're all talking about him, as is the national media, the other coaches in the SEC and next year's recruits.

The guy just took a program that has not been relevant in 5 years and put them back on everyone's tongues with one off-season. Some might call that brilliant. Playing the villain will never be understood by everyone.
