Good luck, young man

I wish nothing but the best for the kid but how does this hurt? Do you people just say shite without thinking. The kid batted .143 in conference play this year and .156 in conference last year. He was also lazy in the field and running balls out at times. I don’t understand the obsession with this kid.

The remaining lineup (assuming Jones doesn't come back) lacks power. Neal is still 19 years old today and was 4th on the team in HRs while starting only half of the games. His catching won't be missed, but his bat was improving and would have been nice to have next year. Not to mention, I would expect his catching could have improved if he was playing more consistently.

I understand Neal has upside but I’m sorry I can’t obsess over a kid who couldn’t even come close to batting .200 in conference. LSU can and will find better in the portal. Or a freshman will step up. I’m not worried about this.

1KNeal was on track to be a stud C until his injury.... not sure what changed afterwards, if technique was changed or maybe lingering issues from the injury forced a change, but it was downhill after that.
Wish him the best. Kid was tough as nails. Hope he can find someone to set him back on a good C track and fully heal.

People are really hung up on their high school rankings, but Neal has been here for 2 years. I like the homers, but he has struggled otherwise. Of course they could continue to develop, but they aren't willing to do that here, so on to the next.
I prefer he would stay, but it's not something to get upset about.

Good luck to him. Blaise Priester is your starting C and it isn't a debate. IF somehow Priester gets drafted which I think this is a good sign he probably won't, you have a problem on your hand. Get some depth through the portal and sweat out Arrambide on draft night.
Blaise Priester is the real deal though and people should be excited about him being the plate.

Hurts depth but he was below avg in conference this year and was outplayed immensely by Millazo down the stretch.

This site loves Jake Brown, but he had the same SEC batting average as Neal. I'm not going to lose my mind over Neal leaving, but I won't pretend like it doesn't matter either.

ESPN kept calling him a “defensive catcher” and I was like “How?” Although Milazzo had some costly errors in a few games, Neal was actually worse behind the plate.

Priester hitting 140 against Texas summer league pitching which is nowhere close to sec pitching

I’ll never lose sleep over losing below average players and replacing them with good players.

Yes. Yes they do.

of all of Jay's disappointments from that 2022 recruiting class, this one has to be up there
he looked so good at times but just way too much swing and miss. Shocked at how often he looked less than competent and overmatched at the plate
people blame injury but he was healthy enough this year to show more than he did

Tough as nails based on what?

I WILL NOT miss when he would make a weak pop up (which was quite often) and throw the bat out of his hand into the air in disgust. Every single time. One of the most annoying things I’ve seen from an lsu player.

Neal is 19 years old. He is far from being a bust. He will go somewhere and put up big numbers. He isn't a great defensive catcher but has time to improve.

We also have the kid from Indiana State University. He could slide in at 1st if Jones goes pro. But if not, he'll be in the mix. I don't think he's coming to DH. It could come down to who has the most pop in their bat.
