I read this board primarily for the humor. You just can't tell a joke.

Lets just hope they don't bring out the New Orleans Bowl Rings, that'd be pretty tough to compete with.

Since Coach Raymond is from New iberia as well. I'm sure he will have along talk with Boutte about keeping his commitment. Not to mention a handful of others from New Iberia who recently played for LSU. Lets just hope he is going for a free meal.

Didn't read all 4 pages. I told y'all he was coming in another thread.

I actually had a conversation with the guy. He has genuine interest in UL. But he's giving UL the trip because we pursued him so hard. When I told him I'm an LSU fan, his eyes lit up. No worries here. He's going to sign with LSU.

While I see the point of this joke, and see it's humor, it did make me realize that every time ULL has won a bowl, LSU has lost theirs that same season.

Or we just need to stop them from winning bowl games.

If natural talent doesn't matter
There is a big difference between suggesting that talent alone is not the only factor that affects a player's chances to get into the NFL and suggesting that "talent doesn't matter". It all matters. If you have great talent and go to a lesser school, you still have a pretty good chance of getting into the NFL. If you have great talent and go to a bigtime school, you have a better chance. Simple math; the more factors in your favor, the better your chances are.

The people with whom you are disagreeing are ONLY saying that his chances would be less at ULL, not zero. The only way your argument against them can be logical is to suggest that the caliber of program has zero effect on his chances of reaching the NFL (unless you want to suggest that ULL is a higher caliber program than LSU ).

Yea and the guy who played for Delaware.....couldnt beat out Tyler Palko at Pitt.

That's more a reflection on Pitt's coaching staff than it is on Joe Flacco... I mean the guy went on to win a I-AA championship at Delaware, then quickly became a starting NFL QB and is now a starting QB for a Super Bowl team.

But they thought Palko was better? Are you kidding?

Maybe that's why Pitt is Pitt.

As for player development, those who say TV exposure matters, at you.

But what does matter is a playing in a program geared, at least in part, to preparing you for pro football. And what matters is playing at least half your schedule lined up against other potential future pros so scouts can better evaluate you.

Having said that, some players probably get hurt by going to the bigger school. Perhaps if Russell Shepard had gone to North Texas, he'd be touching the ball 30 times a game as a RB/WR/Wildcat QB hybrid and would make so many big plays, he'd be more draftable for doing that. Maybe if Lavar Edwards led the Sun Belt Conference with 15 sacks, he'd be a possible second-round pick.

Hard to say. Certainly, it didn't hurt Ron Brooks to be the dime back for LSU. But neither did going to I-AA schools for guys like Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen, Matt Birk, Joe Mays, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jermon Bushrod, Jason Babin...lots of solid pros from I-AA.

The Sun Belt's had plenty too. Stokley, DeMarcus Ware, etc.

It's not like not playing in the SEC relegates you to the Arena League. I mean, what kept Janzen Jackson out of the draft wasn't just the red flags from his McNeese days, but red flags from his Tennessee days. Cecil Collins' red flags were quite evident at LSU, weren't they?

And I'll add this: I can name one school who would LOVE to have the very same Joe Flacco who played for Delaware:

LSU.

The Ragin Pagin threads on this are pretty funny. Some of those people just hate LSU. Some are actually reasonable people though.

One guy says Boutte is 60/40 Cajuns right now. I'm skeptical.
