5.18 forty? Isn't that a little slow?

If you read under the picture it states he wasn't prepared to run the 40 and can run it much faster now, this also shows in his film as he appears much faster.

Is there a link for this. Not doubting but it would be nice to see this coming from a credible source because a 5.18 40 is REALLY slow. Like Nick Foles, who would never be confused as a edge rusher, ran a 5.14

Sadly no I have not been able to find a link for it but a poster said that he said he could run it faster not too long ago.

quote:

The story is that he showed up and was asked to run the 40 - and wasn’t really prepared. Since then, he has worked on that and has been quoted as saying if he were to run it now, the time would be drastically better...

I live in VB, and that is the WORST neighborhood in the city. The kid is lucky to get himself, and hopefully is family out of there soon.

I like you,but you come across as naive and young. The reason its not a huge deal is the position a good technique in the 40 can shave off a tenth or two. He will be a 4.8 guy before he takes the field and that's fine.. You would be surprised by the number of 4.7. 40s that rbs on division 1 teams run.

I. Think he will be faster off the ball then anything. 40 isn't a Big deal for the position. 3 cone ,40 splits are more important

Sorry if I come off that way. But I may be a little naive to why it doesn't matter as much and you just informed me why it doesn't really matter that much.

I really don't care what he runs in the 40. He can lineup on the edge, as a stack LB, and drop in coverage. Kid is really athletic and will find a spot much like Raesjon and Zavier. Brown's coach said he's about 210-215 right now. I can see all three of those guys being used like Damone Clark.

Antoine Sampah from last year's class is also from Virginia. In that thread about Bama's renovated locker rooms we had a couple of weeks ago, I was struck by the Louisiana outline they had on Dylan Moses locker area and I didn't think it was some auxiliary design integration.. its purposeful and it's something LSU should be doing. IMO the intent is to build a sense of comradery, pride and a link to home within the team, particularly for the guys who are far from home.

Of course there's a sense of comradery overall within the Locker room but I think it pays to appeal to that sense of home when you're recruiting nationally. So say next year we've got Sampah, Brown and Leigh...we can go back into Virginia, bring in those kids and point them to our "Virginia guys".
