Kid is an unbelievable competitor and successful at every thing he does. Unfortunately he'll be caught up in the numbers game for this stout 2014 class. I see him being offered a preferred walkon spot. I hope to see him P&G.
I don't believe he can take a baseball scholarship and still play football, but he can take a football scholarship and play baseball. So, I don't think he will get a look on the football field.

This! It's one thing to be short like Brees or JFF but it's another thing to be shorter than either of these guys. You can be a 6'9-10 Center in Basketball but not 6'5". But I encourage him to try and walk on an prove us wrong. It would also help with Trey Quinn.

I saw this guy play in the 5A Finals against Rummel. He reminded me a Lot of Manziel. No way did he look too short to play D-1 ball...Doug Flutie agreed via text earlier today :)

Just let it rest guys. This kids future is in baseball, no doubt. Lets hope we can get him here because I've heard he'll be a high draft pick

Correct. If you play two sports and football is one of them, your scholarship counts against the football limit.

If he is as good at baseball as it would seem, gonna be a moot point cause some pro baseball team will sign him up. Kind of a Zack Lee deal.
If it's not juniors leaving early, MLB offering big bucks, well i guess if your going after the cream of the crop then so are the Pros.

He's a likely first round pick in the MLB draft. His dad said it would take $1 million to keep him out of college. Yes lsu is on his list (and leans lsu due to TOPS eligibility) but other schools are in the mix too. He ain't playing college football period.

No. He isn't.

If height is an excuse then we would need a 6'7 or taller QB here at LSU to see over the line.

First round might be stretching it. Believe it or not, height matters to baseball people too. Being 5-foot-8 as a middle infielder will hurt him. They look for the A-Rod 6'2" SS prototypes, just like football scouts look for the 6'5" gunslinger QB.
I do think if he produces and has good summers, he'll be in a big money round, but more than likely, he'll be a college baseball player and if he has a Mahtook kind of career, he'll play his way to the million-dollar bonus Nick wants.
Just my opinion there. If the kid hits .600 with 15 jacks while picking everything hit to him at SS, then tears up Perfect Game this summer, all bets are off.
But for the people talking about him as a FB player, please understand, football is something he does during baseball's off-season. He's pretty much the opposite of Quinn in that regard. He's a baseball player.
That said, if somebody took baseball away from him, he'd have a future as a Danny Woodhead-type RB, in my opinion. Small, shifty, great ball skills. As a wildcat QB, he'd be spectacular because of what he can do throwing it. He's probably the best thrower on the run I've ever seen at the HS level, seriously.
I think Cam Cameron would love him as an RB in the passing game. But my guess is Fontenot will only be in the same stadium as Cameron if he sits in the northwest corner with his baseball teammates or if Cam sits in an Alex Box luxury suite.

Yep. Known him a long time. Kennon can play anywhere on the baseball diamond and SS might not be his future but he'll excel at any position. Just a great athlete.

What about Quentin Gibson the QB at shaw
Posted on 2/11/13 at 5:06 pm to VT4
I went watch him against Evangel at home this past year. He throws an AWESOME deep ball..that was a great game too. I bet both qbs threw close to, if not over, 400yds a piece. Glad I made the trip for that one!

he's closer to 5'10-11" than 5'8"
