outbid everyone else for a premiere LB in Perkins who probably wasn't cheap and dried the NIL pool money up

Actually they didn't. Lsu's offer was well below florida and a&m's. Florida had the highest offer.

To Perkins himself in legal NIL money
Not to the rest of the decision makers

Can’t be true. Saban has said over and over that NIL shouldn’t be used to help with getting a kid to go to a certain school and that is only for getting deals for players after they have signed with the school for the right reasons. Lol! Saban should have just kept his trap shut. Looks stupid and now he’s got a coach like Jimbo firing warning shots across the bow, calling him a clown show, and threatening to go public with where the bodies are buried. Gotta love Saban not being able to have every single advantage anymore.

Might be why Perk’s mom had the stink face during his announcement. He loves the culture in Louisiana and I’m sure he’s glad to be back. His locker room dancing videos with his family were great.

Idk we’ve done pretty well this cycle after firing and hiring a new coach a week before early signing day. Let’s see how a full recruiting cycle goes at least before freaking out about speculation on what LSU with BK can or can’t do in regards to recruiting and NIL.

No offense, but not every player deserves a NIL deal. When you start throwing cash at 3-star players, where does it end?

in this case it was an investment to get Alabama a favorable influence with future athletes attending New Iberia Westgate High School. Snakes that need be controlled.

Once and for all to all you dumbasses who wring your hands over our #6 class recruited in just 2 months by Brian Kelly, Frank Wilson and half a staff. Get the story right.

NIL or no NIL, LSU had not recruited the kids in the 2021 class effectively since Orgeron was fired after the Florida game.
LSU had a lame duck staff and a dead duck head coach while other schools were still able to recruit. So exactly what difference would NIL make to recruits when they don’t know who is going to be their position coaches or head coach?

LSU ended up with the #6 (#4 in SEC) class while losing none of the 13 commitments on board when Brian Kelly was hired. Then Kelly hit the Portal for players LSU needs for depth and positions which need experience.

Bama came into Louisiana and signed 3 WR and 3 star TE many never heard of until BK offered him. LSU would not have signed but 1 of the 3 WRs anyway because we needed much more help at other positions such as CB and OL. By the way LSU signed a TE in this class who was higher ranked than Danny Lewis and many of you don’t even know it.

NIL is going to be taken care of but you needed a coaching staff and a head coach first.

Yet they pulled Perkins. I'm sure they are saving what nil deals they can get for the guys that are must have. Danny Lewis as of now is not a must have. Just a shame that players are possibly shaping their entire future for a little money now instead of a path that has more potential to see playing time

This is no secret. It was reported numerous places on signing day that he signed with Bama because they gave him $25,000. I say good luck to him, he isn't that good. Isn't like people were beating his door down. If he is will to flip over such a small amount I don't want him at LSU because he never truly wanted to come here anyway.

Lewis wasn't a big loss for LSU. He's slow. No way he plays te at Bama.

Enormous percentage of players that went elsewhere due to NIL deals will come back to haunt them - - not all, but most. Also, players like Danny Lewis will be in the portal or on the benche behind lots of depth. Money doesn't make you successful - - heart and desire to the place you really want to go. Time will tell.....

This kind of thing is going to be the new norm. A guy like Danny will get paid something and have a chance to see if he can cut it at that program. If he doesn't feel like it's working out, the portal will welcome him and he may even get a second pay day out of that situation. Recruiting has undergone a massive shift with both the portal and NIL being in the equation now.

But Nick said Bama doesn't use NIL deals to sign players. Surely he wouldn't lie

Sure, keep your head in the sand while Bama and A&M keep buying players.

They’ve always “bought players” and so has LSU. It’s just in the open now. NIL will change absolutely NOTHING about college football except now the players will have to pay taxes. The exact same top 15 recruiting teams of the last 20 years will stay the same 15 schools year in and year out now. “Recruiting” was always a myth. It was always about that money. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete moron.

Except it’s completely false. We will still end up within the top 10 class where WE HAVE RECRUITED IN CONSISTENTLY IN THE LAST 20 YEARS.

Calm the frick down. We did far better than any other team that replaced their entire staff.

If he was worried about money its the exact opposite of what he should have done.

The national exposure he could have gotten just by coming to LSU and catching a few first down passes in big games would be worth way more than 25 or 50k. Look at how much money Stingley made just by playing here his freshman year.

Kids and some parents are shortsighted unfortunately.

247 Sports shows them with 6 TEs on the roster now and signing 2 additional TEs in the 2022 class for a total of 8 TEs. I read somewhere where they had 10 TEs before Lewis.
