You said it, not me. But I agree completely.
I may be a little biased since I’ve been at every game Walker has played in high school.
I think Walker is better but those are elite plays by a sophomore QB on Arch’s highlight tape. Don’t get it twisted. Some of the things he does on the run is way past what even “good” Soph QB’s do.

We have literally had 3 Natty's since oklahoma and georgia's last, 1 since ohio state and Clemson's last, and only bama has had a more recent natty. We just had one 2 years ago.

What Arch did was really damn good for a sophomore on tape, but like I said in my first post, to have a combo like him and AJ Johnson you'd expect both to put up massive numbers considering the hype and that didnt happen last season (I know they played in 10 games total due to shortened season, but even then the numbers didnt jump off the page). This is why I'm curious to see what kind of leap they can make in Arch's junior year and AJ's senior season.
Here's Arch's numbers at Newman so far:
2019
(11 games)
194 for 296
65.5%
2,438 yards
34 TD
6 INT
168.6 NCAA QB Rating
2020
(10 games)
146 for 219
66.7%
1,922 yards
21 TD
7 INT
165.6 NCAA QB Rating
Good year for sure for a freshman/sophomore p[laying varsity but really no improvement there from 1 year to next either.

Highlights look good, but he's clearly a sophomore with room for improvement as expected. Has a high ceiling with his size/athleticism and game IQ, but I'm not watching that highlight and saying "holy shite, this kid is blowing my mind". Are people just assuming because he's a Manning that he'll be a monster by the time he graduates?
Agree with all of this. Looks like the ball is coming out of his hand in an odd way, but maybe that’s just me. Looks very good for a sophomore. But I’m sure he could be picked apart by a lot more people better at scouting than I am.
Agreed with the fact, that AT THIS POINT, the justification for his rating at the moment is for his ceiling, not the product on the field.

Do your stats take into account team (Newman's) running yards and differences in their offense his sophomore season?
Or do passing yards and completion percentage dictate his growth and knowledge of the game?
His growth, or "improvement", is not shown solely in the passing game stats.

Thats why I posted passer rating, which normalizes everything. Basically unchanged there from freshman to sophomore year. Both good marks no doubt, but just stating there was no overall improvement in the efficiency numbers by putting the passer rating out there. I just expect him to have a big season this year. If he's getting this kind of hype with a 4-star big time receiver to throw to, another kid committed to LSU blocking for him, he should be able to put up significant numbers this upcoming year and take Newman on a playoff run this time around. Their playoff game against LCA was just not very good, and their offense overall kind of sputtered in the playoffs last season.

Agree - also not sure if no 7-on-7 affected their passing game since AJ was not a receiver Arch's Freshman season. Should be a fun connection to watch in 2021 along with another sophomore - TE Randle.

That kid has been a monster since sixth grade.

I think I would put $$$ on Randle in the 6th grade vs. Arse in a wrestling match.

Those numbers are still good. They passed the ball less obviously. They’ll have a new OC this year that is going to throw it around the yard

Looking forward to see how his St. Martins background fits in with them Newman boys. Metry to Uptown is not always an easy transition.

Going to Ole Miss with Lane Kiffin or I could see Texas being a real player for him too. Texas is setting themselves up to make inroads into Louisiana recruiting and I believe this will be Sarkasian's(sp?) biggest effort. There's no way he's coming to LSU at the log jam here to sit behind all these QBs. You would need mass attrition at QB for him to come.
Texas having a shot will depend on whether or not they flip Ewers, which still might happen
I think flipping Ewers would eliminate them from the Arch sweepstakes the following year

Eli Holstein Soph Highlights
Yes I know that pedigree matters but if his name wasn’t Manning, is his sophomore tape any better than Holstein’s? And correct me if I’m wrong, Zachary plays much tougher competition right?
Would love to get Manning but mostly just to end this 30 year conversation about Mannings hating LSU. I’ll gladly settle for Eli, who could end up a 5 star as well.

We'd be lucky to land either Arch or Eli honestly. I too am looking forward to comparing Arch with Eli coming up this season, Walker obviously too as it's his last.

This year is a special one year schedule cycle and then a new two year cycle begins for Arch’s senior year, so the whole states of LA and MS will be competing to get Newman to visit their schools which will guarantee a packed stadium, COVID willing

I see 2 QB's back from this year's team in 22 which gives LSU 3 QBs before Manning in 23. Coach O is going to start the best QB that knows the offensive playbook. Let the competition begin!

arch got ninety nine options and LSU ain't one
