The timing of Aneesah's visit this w/e is special. The building will be abuzz with the HVL news.

AM is obviously a physical talent, 2X All-American (2nd team last year, ahead of Angel), but she's an academic AA as well. Comm major with a 3.75 GPA, she's serious enough about that to have put USCw in her final 3 landing choices.

With HVL onboard, LSU may already be set as preseason #1. But if AM pulls the trigger and signs with Coach Mulkey the 2023-24 Tigers will have makings of a team for the ages.
quote:

"While Kim Mulkey returns a frontcourt led by star forward Angel Reese, you can never add too much talent," Bryce Koon wrote. "Adding Morrow to the fold would give the Tigers a frontcourt that would rival and probably best anyone in the country. It would also strengthen the Tigers bid to repeat as national champions. It would give LSU an unique combination at the forward spots with two players that have averaged double-doubles in the past season. Morrow could also add the element of outside shooting to this Tigers team, as the sophomore shot a career high 209 and converted at a 25.9% clip."

quote:

Morrow averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds for the Blue Demons this season, earning Third Team All-American honors for her efforts. The 6-foot-1 Chicago native has two remaining years of eligibility and ranks as either the No. 1 or No. 2 player in the portal, depending on the rankings.

If LSU could land either Van Lith or Morrow (let alone both) it would almost certainly enter the 2023-24 season as the clear favorite to repeat as champions.

We'd be starting the year with 3 returning All-Americans. How often has that ever happened?

Stolen from another poster:

Starting lineup could have
-3 All-Americans
-SEC Freshman of the Year
-#1 High School Player in USA

And that’s just the starters. The team is also deep.

Shooting 25.9% is not elite. Making 1-4 shots. It sounds worse to say she misses 74.1% of her shots.

Don’t worry about the 3-point shooting percentage. It’s her mid-range jumper that we need, and she is money from that range.

DePaul was trying to get her WNBA ready and giving her SF experience and allowed her to work on her 3 pt range. She didn’t do well. Shot like 19% or something horrific.

However, her mid-range is elite from 17 ft in. In the post, she is actually more money than Angel.

I love her numbers but, keep in mind Morrow is only 6'1". So, defensively she's gonna struggle against the top teams, especially in the SEC.

Should we petition for her to be the first women’s AND men’s Basketball Coach in NCAA history?

I’m kidding, obviously, but one can dream…

That's what I see. Morrow is the replacement for L. Williams and HVL for Morris.

You lose 2-3" going from Williams to Morrow, but she is a proven rebounder and scorer albeit not in the SEC.

Yep, I'm not worried about height with her at all. She's built thick and is powerful. Like WBB version of Zion or Charles Barkley. She moves people out of the way to get her spot or her shot.

And her hands are so strong. She routinely rips balls away from players that seemingly have two-hand control of the rebound, like boy would from a little girl. One highlight, she ripped it away from two players with their hands on the ball. There's a reason a 6-1 player finished 7th in the nation in rebounding & it wasn't due to the competition.

Williams was a wonderful compliment to Reese, but Williams never had a 45 pt or 25+ reb game like Morrow had multiple times.

giving her SF experience

Imagine the versatility Morrow would give us. We could go "Small"

Reese 6'3
Morrow 6'1
Flau'jae 5'11
Mikaylah 6'0
HVL 5'7

Or we could go Big:

Del Rosario 6'6
Reese 6'3
Morrow 6'1
Mikaylah 6'0
HVL 5'7

Plus Flau'jae could be inserted in the big lineup as well.

AND we have Poole, Poa, and smith on the bench. Plus maybe one of the other freshman coming in and being better than their ranking.
