Bamas staff loved Davis. They just realized pretty quickly that he wasn't flipping.

I found the Marcus Banks stuff very interesting.

On a side note, I heard hints of very outlandish stories on Sanders ‘deal’ to Bama. Something about the highest ever... anyone have any insight on those $torie$?

Someone posted in another thread that it was around $340,000.00. The person who posted it claims to be an LSU insider... Something about golf buddies. Anyway, shortly after that post Alabama fans were using it as an example of how crazy LSU fans are. But I seen a couple reply that they were surprised it was so much.

Someone refresh my memory. How much did a JUCO qb go for 250k?

I'm sure Alabama is paying more than that for the #1 rb in the country. Alabama is out paying everybody. It isn't until recently that Georgia started playing catch up.

Would this not be the perfect chance for O to do the same back to Saban? Make Davis pretend he is a high chance to flip and leave them with nothing as Sanders looks elsewhere...

emery is better than sanders

Doesn't matter who is better. What line are they running behind. Will they have a passing game to keep the defense honest?

Can their OC call plays the defense doesnt identify pre snap every time?

Yeah... and this thread as well as my response is not even remotely related to anything you just said.

At the end of the day, “he’s right you know.”

Defense doesn’t win championships anymore. It takes a complete team to consistently win the big games you need to make the top 4.

You just can’t have weaknesses in the SEC. The level of play is too good.

ETA: Also applies to the beginning of the day

Recruiting has basically turned into a chess match with 18 year olds being used as pawns. It’s sickening and fascinating at the same time.

I have heard $350k

And I'd be willing to bet the night before NSD bama gave Sopsher more than that.

It may be the perfect chance but only if the kid and his family/advisors are willing to play that game. Contrary to popular belief, not all these kids are on the take or willing to play games in their recruitments.

Sanders looked elsewhere, and committed elsewhere privately (UGA) without Davis playing the game. Bama got the last conversation.

No way Sopsher got over 300 grand. No way. The above post about him being down Bamas board is true. He was always a take but others couldve pushed him out if they had chosen Bama.

Yep UGA and Bama wanted to flip Davis and thought they were close. They were wrong of course:). And we got Emery to boot.

Behind the scenes the premier recruits have handlers, family members, an attorney or agent type (read business associate/local business type etc.) with ties to the local HS and community who negotiate with the bagmen/boosters. Sometimes the HCs don't know until after the deal is done ho w much. They eventually all know how much regardless what they ignore or deny. Sanders had someone close to his family or local HS connections with a lot of juice and savvy who negotiated one heck of a deal with the one group of bagmen who will do just about anything to get recruits. Their cut must have been pretty nice.

That is basically what happened. Sophser could have been had but he remained loyal to the first program willing to pay out the dole. Devin White played games with Bama and Arky. Bama caught on quickly White and O were playing games. Bielema's staff at Arky was not quite as wise. Nor were there over the top homers.

Yea and you would take Sanders all day long over Emery had he committed here. Shut that shite up

I wouldn't. I considered him the best RB in the class when he was brought to our attention the year prior through his sophomore highlights. Same as how I considered Guice the best RB out of his class.

Yea well your post history says you wanted Cain over Emery so... In response to another poster below

It's definitely a good class but we need to finish with Sopsher, Emery, and Lee to be an elite class.

I know people are kinda against Cain,, but I really think this is the type of guy we need at LSU. Davis and Cain would be a ridiculously good 1-2 punch. Najee Harris isn't fast either, yet he was considered a can't miss 5 star because of his talent outside of speed. Cain has those plus his blocking and receiving ability would make him a role player very early on.

Cain's video did look good. I'm not saying he was any better than anyone but he looked good.
