It will turn out to be a top 1-2 class. This class will be the foundation of at least 1 National Championship team. Bookmark it.

Yeah, and every LSU 3 star will get drafted in the first round and nobody from Texas will get drafted.

I doubt it.

Very possible.

Some of the lesser ranked players would be more likely to stick around and get developed.

Go back and look at our 2020 class. I'd wager most thought it was a great class. You make a good point. We won't know for a couple years just how good this class is.

Maybe it will and maybe it won't. But you have no idea and this post is just a weird cope from losing out on Simmons I'd assume.

Ah, no. It’s a tall order to beat 2019.

We haven’t had any shitty classes in a very long time. Since Les Miles.

This is the most accurate response and the only rational necessary response to this thread. Unfortunately.

That's just retarded and nothing near what I actually said.

The main take away should be that these recruiting services don't know shite.

They don't know where they are going, and they put the absolute minimum effort in to scouting and ranking the players.

Look no further than the #1 player in the country last year, Arch Manning. If Rickie Collins' last name was Manning, he would have been the #1 guy. It's a popularity contest with them as much as anything. These rankings are all before any of these kids play their senior years. By the their seasons are over, many 3 stars will move up and quite a few 5 stars will move down.

My take had a little hyperbole, so how about this. By the time the final recruiting rankings come out, LSU will have 3 3 stars, with the other 6 getting their 4th star, and at least 1 of our 4 stars getting his 5th.

The 3 star guys we have committed weren't consolation guys we picked up after missing out on higher ranked guys, they were players that our staff have scouted extensively and had much higher on our board than the recruiting services had ranked.

To say this is some misguided coping mechanism to do with Simmons is just ignorant and says a lot more about you than it does me.

Louisiana always has overlooked talent. Kelly digs and locates our underrated dogs. Like Ashton Stamps, whose getting some first and second team reps. He was so determined to be a Tiger and he earned it. Find all that Bayou gold, Coach, and turn them loose on an unsuspecting SEC.

Do you have amnesia, been living under a rock, and totally forgotten about the 2019 class ? On NSD the class looked solid. In reality and looking back 4 years later, this class was a huge bust with exception of a half-dozen players.

2019 class - lots of whiffs and WTF’s

Based on performance, Cade York (K) was the best player in this class. Stingley had an amazing FR year (All-American) followed by injuries and questions about whether or not he was gonna dress out for certain games. Shite went downhill after “his reaction” and hospitalization on Friday night before Game 1 vs. Moo State. Cordell Flott, Anthony Bradford, Jay Ward, and TDP were solid contributors from their signing class.

Here are a few players and how it turned out.

OLB Marcel Brooks (No. 32, No. 2 OLB): Flashes of brilliance, transferred after 1 year.

DT Siaki Ika (No. 138, No. 13 DT): an absolute stud NT who also left after 1-year.

OL Kardell Thomas (No. 97, No. 4 OG): weight issues, buried in the depth chart, started 2 games in 4 years. Transferred.

CB Maurice Hampton (No. 129, No. 14 CB): 2-sport player that never saw the field in either sport. Left after 1 year, transferred to Samford.

OT Ray Parker (No. 154, No. 14 OT): beat his girlfriend and kicked her dog

ATH Devonta Lee (No. 166, No. 8 ATH): Tweener who never could find a steady position and transferred to LA Tech.

RB John Emery Jr. (No. 13, No. 2 RB): ???? Will the real John Emery (based on HS film) please show up in 2023.

How useful were Palmer and Ika to LSU?

Not much but with a more stable program they hang around & contribute. That’s not really the point of the thread tho.

Ika was 2nd team Nose behind Shelvin. He had 17 tackles. Not great but not terrible for a freshman NG in Aranda’s system. Keeping in mind that LBs shine in Aranda’s system, not DL.
