Looks to be a walk on or something?
Unless we just offered him, he doesn't have any offers from D1 schools.

I know I don't visit the board as much as others but I don't remember hearing this kid's name. Surely he wasn't one of our closing targets for tomorrow, right?
Not knocking the kid. Just didn't see this coming.
ETA: I see I'm not the only one surprised. But if the staff thought he was good enough to be on the team (even as a PWO) maybe they can find a way to use him. 247 lists him as RB but his Twitter says "RB/CB/ATH"

Yo what is this... just looked him up. He’s a low 2 star with no single division 1 offer. I would personally rather leave the spot open for a transfer or for next years class. Especially considering we need to drop 6-8 guys from the 85 man limit. If the staff feels good about it, then I trust it, but this isn’t something that looks good on paper or something I would have done.

Looks like he averaged 11 yards a carry in the Houston private school league.

He has an offer from U of H. He has been hurt most of high school, but game changer when he is healthy.

I live in Houston and have kids in HS. This kid is a really good football player. He rushed for 1,200 yards and 16 TDs while averaging 11 yards per carry. All in six games before getting injured.
He suffers from playing in the private school league and his injury. He's a very well respected kid. Solid family.
But here's the long game, folks: his younger brother, Jordan Williams, is a freshman. He is an elite basketball and football player (just got offered by UofH as a freshman). As good as Josh is, Jordan could be the real deal. Jordan Williams Twitter
So this is a homerun move as a preferred walkon. Josh will be a great practice player and I would not rule him out as being a contributor down the line. Great athlete. Good kid. And a potential foot in the door if little bro continues to blow up as a future stud.

Looks like he is rated a little too low but I’m a bit surprised that schools like Wake Forest and Duke weren’t looking at him.
