Guy on page 3 says that he thinks Fraley will be gone.I think that he has been a under achiever this year and wouldn't be drafted that high. Remember before you talk about the teams youth, Fraley was supposed to be our constant. He's great in center field but we need him to step up on the offensive side. In my opinion batting him 2nd is a waste....

He's hitting .340 with a .430 obp and slugging .450. He has 16 K's to 23 BB's. He's stolen almost 20 bases so far and has been perfect in the outfield.

What on earth makes you think that's underachieving? He's a top few round draft prospect and will get drafted there.

And that's all that needs to be said, this is a recruiting thread, not a discussion on Jake Fraley's on field performance, if you want to discuss that further, go make a thread on the rant.

I guess the scouts I saw in Columbia timing him from home to first were just prepping for the 2017 draft.

It's baseball, there is no chance fraley doesn't get drafted any earlier than laird.

So we feel good about 3 guys showing up to campus. 16 current commits. We have 15 draft eligible non-seniors on the team.

So, worst case scenario is that we dress out like 12 guys next year apparently.

No way ten of current roster go high enough to leave unless they just want out.

Poche and Fraley are gone most likely
Beyond that it's iffy but guys like Reynolds and Newman who have battled injuries could tell a team draft me and I will sign just to start pro career.

A lot of draft work and decisions about signability are done way before draft. I think LSU has a day where scouts meet with players and discuss if they would sign if we draft you here.

High school players are similar. A lot of pitchers in current class that may never see LSU. But we might have a roster with about 8 shortstops.

Nick Coomes (LSUE) updates after 55 games:

.368/.461/.701 for the season
.335/.420/.596 career (105 games)

13 HR, 80 RBI, 16 SB, 25 2B, .408 BABIP, 1.162 OPS!

He is stroking the ball this season. He does have 16 errors in only 104 chances for a .846 Fielding Pct. He's playing 3rd at LSUE. Likely DH or possible 1B or corner OF here. Very unlikely he would supplant Reid or Lochridge at 3rd fielding that way.

Should I go hunt around for Hunter Kiel's K/BB ratio again or are Coomes errors enough for you today?

Speaking of LSU-E wish Zach Lafleur would come here instead of ULL. Dude is hitting .417 with 19 2B, 6 HR and 59 stolen bases

They also have a kid going to Maryland after this year too. But they have played some flat out awful competition. The only decent teams they've played have handed them losses. They're 3-3 against Delgado and 0-1 against Chipola.

Still can't find if Moffitt is going anywhere.

Recruits likely gone:
Pint
Hess
Peterson
Williams

Already gone:
Gettys booted off high school team

Maybe
Watson

Likely coming:
Woley
Templet
Smith (will start at SS if KRob leaves) - will play and likely compete elsewhere if not SS
Slaughter
Frederick
Walker
Johnson
Beck
Coomes (will be nice JC addition to offense)
Weatherly

I would put Slaughter and Weatherly in the Maybe spot.

And add Kiel (the other JUCO pitcher) and the kid from Anacoco to the likely list.

I'm logging all the current players and commits into a spreadsheet to track draft eligibility, attrition, and roster space. It's possible that I'm bad at math or that the info on Perfect Game isn't 100% accurate, but it looks like we've got at least 4 guys in the 2016 class that would be draft eligible sophomores should they make it to campus.

Some of them are expected to make it anyway, but a guy like Zach Hess might lean a little more towards LSU knowing that he only has to be there for 2 years, like Gausman did.

ETA: Perfect Game has a couple of guys listed as Commits to LSU that will actually be going elsewhere. Tyler Smith from Covington will be going to Northwestern St and Brennan Maddox from Fairview will be going to LSUE. Maddox may be someone to look out for in a couple years.
