Riverside wins the LSU basketball camp for the second year in a row

Impressive, I heard there were some damn good schools there.

With our lack of depth at guard this year, any chance we can find a Charles Carmouche-type to fill a gap? Man, I'd feel so much better if we could just find someone like that for this year.

We went after a few guys but we didn't land them. Graduate transfers are a tough commodity. Everyone wants a guy that they can have for 1 year who has experience in NCAA and is smart enough in the classroom to graduate early.

We do have 3 ball handlers and Hornsby jr. Our problem is defensive length tho quarterman can probably d the 2 guard.

Johnny Jones is high on Hornsby, whose size (6-4), athleticism and work ethic should equal defending the 2 guard and some small forwards.

Jeff Borzello mentions LSU in his July recruiting news.
July Recruiting Preview: Schools that got work done early for 2015
quote:
Wednesday marks the beginning of the July live recruiting period, a three-week stretch where coaches from colleges across the country will follow and evaluate potential prospects from coast-to-coast. From Las Vegas and Augusta to Chicago and Louisville, thousands of high school basketball players will take part in a long list of events – and coaches will watch every second of it.
It can get a little confusing, so we're here to prepare you.
First, let's take a look at a handful of schools that are well positioned heading into the live period. Some of these schools have received commitments from several players, while others have landed their main target and can relax just a bit for the class of 2015. ...
...LSU: Johnny Jones only has one commitment so far for 2015, but it's a pledge the Tigers absolutely needed to land. Ben Simmons, in my opinion the best player in the country, announced he was heading to LSU last fall – with the Tigers beating out the likes of Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and every other big-time program in the country for his services. Simmons has always had the potential to be a highly-rated player, but he's improved and expanded his game over the last few months and can make a very strong case for being No. 1 in the country. Jones won't simply rest on his laurels, though. Brandon Sampson has emerged as one of the best scorers in the country, and he's a top target. Chad Lott and Alex Owens are other options.

Also just saw this posted about Musselman helping in recruiting.

Eric Musselman, LSU: Musselman was named as a possibility at multiple head coaching openings, but LSU landed him as an assistant last month. He’s a former NBA head coach and has been at Arizona State the past two seasons. He was one of the better Xs and Os guys on the board and has AAU relationships.

Still hoping we get those 4...
Simmons, Sampson, Lott and Owens would be an incredible class.

Replace Lott with Antonio Blakeney, top 5 class.

Yea, I just don't see it. If Blakeney wants to play with the #1 SF then I guess it's a possible pull, but you have to think that Florida is gonna pull him.

Cant be stressed enough how clutch that Musselman hire has been thus far. Cant wait to see the on-court impact.

They play on the same AAU team and Blakeney has already mentioned LSU as part of his list. It's a longshot, but he's definitely part of LSU's board.

I'm not sure Blakeney ends up at UF. The Gators picked up SG KeVaughn Allen in April. I thought Blakeney would end up there, but with Allen's commitment, Blakeney likely goes elsewhere IMO.

OP needs to be refreshed. 2014 is pretty much done.

What kind of players are Owens and Chad Lott? I like that SMU is high on Lott
Sampson looks like his stock is rising quite a bit. You have to think we'll add some sort of blue chip surprise, as Johnny has pulled it off every season so far
