When you say production, that is what's implied.

Hopefully he can provide stronger low-post defense than Warren.

Is Patterson there? I know he had grade concerns and we will need him for depth since Hickey is gone. How did the other guys look?

Sorry for the late response. Only caught a minute or two of it so I didn't really get to notice much. Martin stood out to me as well; looked as if he had gotten more lean and rid of the baby fat. Elbert had a nice dunk off a pass from one of the guards which drew some noise from the crowd. Hornsby also looked quick with the ball, which we pretty much already knew.

ETA: To answer your question, I didn't notice Patterson there.

Cant wait to see how the addition of Eric Musselman affects our recruiting. He was recruiting director at Arizona St and went to school at San Diego State. I think he could try and bring a few guys from the westcoast over. I need me another Voogd

I think this hire is to help Johnny with in game strategy more so than recruiting. We desperately needed this.

Well sure he is here to do more than recruiting, but this is the recruiting board.

Incredible hire by johnny

Well respected throughout the league although he does like to have a good time. Which is...you know...never a bad thing

Understanding this is the recruiting board I still think this hire is more of a strategy hire whereas the McCray hire was a recruiting hire. With Patrick and jj already in tow I think this makes more sense.

Coaches are allowed to have more than 1 function. While I agree that he is being hired as a strategy guy that doesn't mean it won't have an affect on recruiting. Cameron was brought in for football for strategy and on field performance, but look what that has done for football recruiting... Hand in hand.

Totally agree. Just pointing out the fact we have a better coaching staff with him than McCray just based on X's and O's. And I also believe that they are at LEAST neck and neck in recruiting. Don't know who if anyone he(McCray)actually helped us sign but I imagine the fact he(mussel man)has Cali ties nba ties he will def hold his own in that department.

mccray wasnt here long enough to make a strong recruiting imprint but behind the scenes he did some good work with the guards and the players loved him.

im sure musselman will recruit. patrick will be out there recruiting and leonard really doesnt do any off campus recruiting. players want to get to the league and having a guy who has actually been a head coach at that level coming after them will be a nice bonus.

just really excited in terms of what he'll be able to bring to the bench in games. hopefully can help shore up that defense.

Think I've brought this up before - but what's the deal with Melvin Frazier. Recruiting services rank him very highly but his offer list leaves much to be desired. Is he a big risk academically?

I think most coaches aren't sure what position he'll play at the next level. There's some uncertainty about whether he can handle the guard position. Physically, he probably won't be able to play forward either. The LSU staff's focus is centered on getting Sampson. He's their guy.

Sampson is the better player, but I feel like a lot of folks think Frazier could be another Michael Qualls. Similar size (6'6-ish). Sampson is definitely a 2, seems like Frazier is a 3.

The question is: if Sampson chooses to go elsewhere and we're still unsure about our options at the two, do we pursue Frazier? Honestly, I think Johnny could find a spot for him in this scenario. Hell, Shavon Coleman was 6'5" 195 lbs. and Frazier isn't far off from that. It'll be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out.
