It hurt with ESD. Give him the benefit of the doubt to land recruits in February and next year. People on this board don’t understand the intricacies of recruiting but, he’ll have plenty of time to recruit 2023.

NIL played a much larger role this signing day and the majority of the blame goes to LSU’s athletic department.

I think you would need that amount just for base pay. Texas is paying 100K per player plus position group bonuses (ex. 50K extra per O linemen for every OL including walkons). Also they are most likely paying additional for the top players and also for recruiting class and transfers.

I’m not saying he’s a no go, but it appears to be a tough pull. He has shown zero interest in LSU up until this point.

The only way to preserve this class and retain shots at some of our earlier targets was to keep all of the position coaches and their relationships. No new head coach should be held to that. And even if he filled out the entire staff quickly, our targets wouldn’t have any relationships with them.

This is the problem created by the timing of ESD and it’s the reason the NCAA is already exploring changing the date. It’s turning this period right after the season into a total shitshow.

If the hires continue to drag out, that will negatively affect NSD. I’ll give you that. There is enough time to try and develop new relationships with new coaches and reach out to new targets, but only if things start moving.
