We still have a good ways to go before this recruiting cycle is up. Y’all heard what the more veteran tackle we just landed said about Kelly, he’s knows more about all this than a HS kid does.
That’s the type of players I believe that he will fill any holes we need filled from in the portal. Veteran players who know what it takes to play college football at a high level and are very talented. 5* 4* 3* 2* doesn’t matter when you’ve seen the player develop already and know what he can do against other college players.
He’s going to assemble a staff that can coach his position, evaluate, recruit and develop the talent further. I think that will be and should be our approach for the first 2-3 years while of course also signing the best HS talent you can get here at LSU and who expects to work their butt off to become a good teammate and player who will develop into the best CFB player he can possibly be.
As for the NIL stuff, I think they’ll have a great plan moving forward and I’m hoping it’s something very unique and intriguing to any star football player and also packages for the remaining guys who may not be the superstar yet but their pay would kick in overdrive once that happens. Say a kid is a backup but is working his butt off and gets around 40-60k a year with incentives but let’s say he starts his 2nd or 3rd year and becomes a dominant player, his pay would then kick into the 250k to 500k range or better depending on his deal and his popularity or likeness within the state, region, country or world!
Imo that’s the way you keep the right guys here and motivate them to develop themselves overall as a young man not just in football. He’s great in class, off the field in the community, goes home and raises money for his local area and also trains his butt off to kick some arse on the field! That’s what I hope we do!

You’re crazy if you think we’re going to be paying backups 40-60K a season.
