I agree that Louisiana typically provides all the receivers LSU needs. But is this the year Louisiana has the one really good receiver (Francis) who looks like a future star?

Louisiana used to produce lots of really good quarterbacks- until it didn't.

Terry Bradshaw, Joe Ferguson, James Harris, Bert Jones, Norris Weese, Doug Wlliams, Johnny Booty, Bubby Brister, Stan Humphries, Bobby Hebert, John Fourcade, David Woodley, Steve Ensminger, Tommy Hodson, Josh Booty, Payton Manning, Eli Manning.

Then. Nothing, really.

Just because Louisiana has produced great receivers in the past, it doesn't mean this year will be the same. Just my opinion, of course.

Sounds like they made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Hope that extra 20% keeps him warm in those late season Big 10 road games. He wanted to do something different and I think he’ll find that very different.

Why not?

A player can be successful at nearly any program. The NFL will find talent where ever it is.

HOWEVER, the value placed on that talent can be different depending on how the talent is used and where the talent is showcased.

Jayden Daniels was the top dual-threat quarterback prospect of the 2019 college football class. He was buried at Arizona State University compared to other QBs in his class. There is no way on God's green Earth that he would have won the Heisman at ASU. Accordingly, he would not have been selected second in the draft. and he would not have received a four-year contract worth $37.75 million fully guaranteed. The first QB selected in the 2024 draft who was not a first-round draft pick was Spencer Rattler. Rattler seems like a fair comparable for Daniels if he had stayed at ASU. Rattler signed a four-year contract worth $4.36 million with only $336k guaranteed.

Folks on this board constantly preach that it may be worth millions in NFL contract(s) to a recruit to attend the right school. The message is that some recruits should forego the immediate $100ks in college for a bigger NFL payday.

Bryce Underwood clearly appears to be intelligent enough to understand that message.

I have no doubt that he is intelligent enough to pass up half a million dollars just because he thinks LSU is one of the very few place that can develop and showcase a quarterback.

Numbers are thrown around for all these kids.

We have absolutely no idea if they are true. If Moore got $1.3 million, how much did Bryce Underwood get?

See how easy that is?
When outrageous numbers get offered, we hear SOMETHING about it. The fact that NOBODY, not a soul has leaked a huge payday for the #1 player in the country, should tell you all you need to know.

Did you know Jayden Daniels wasn't the highest paid player at LSU? Did he try to run away or stay and grind? Did he get offers to be in commercials for major brands or not? LSU finds the kids who care more about LSU than just the money. They know they can get brand deals at LSU while also being developed.

I'm not hating the kid for getting his money, nor if we pay a mill to keep Jahkeem Stewart next year. What im saying is, if you don't love the school, money will not keep you there for 3 years unless it's Nico Iamaleava rumored money.

Oregon has had about as many 1000+ yard receivers as LSU has in the last 10 seasons, and they've been about as heavy running the ball through much of that time as LSU has.

The difference is a receiver that only gets a few hundred yards at LSU still gets drafted.

Since 2014, LSU has had 13 WR's drafted.

Oregon? 3.
This is what i talk about all the time. The last out of state WR that did anything great at LSU was Brandon LaFell. The last out of state RB that did anything at LSU was Spencer Ware. While it's nice to look at star rankings, Louisiana skill players are top 2 in the country. Also, LSU knows how to develop them too. Oregon has taken top WRs before, but they've never been NFL good. They've sent very few to the NFL and they never really amounted to anything.

LSU needs to get Jacob Washington back from Michigan. They need to get Phillip Wright. Stop playing around with these out of state skill players when you know the guys in Louisiana are some of the best in the country.

I understand that choosing a school that can prepare you for the next level is important, but LSU isn't the only school that can do that. Bryce had Alabama, Colorado, Oregon, Michigan, Florida State, etc in his top schools. Deboer just got Penix drafted as a top 10 pick, Michigan just got JJ McCarthy to be a top 10 pick, Bo Nix at Oregon was just a top 12 pick, Jordan Travis boosted his stock at FSU, Sanders is going to be a top 10 pick next year at Colorado. All of these major schools and coaches can point to players that they have developed, just like LSU can.

I think we're in a pretty good spot overall. Everyone freaking out about DT position and that's been handled this cycle.

We need Corey to close out getting Jaboree back into the class and do whatever they need to do for Pickett. The CB class is what is hurting the most right now to me.

Agree with this.

I thought the CB haul would be Pickett, Antoine (who i think ends back up at LSU), and a 3 star Louisiana kid with the frams and potential to be a star. Even if Oregon does get Pickett now, i think we should still work for him.

Listen to all players talk about NIL, and then specifically listen to what Underwood said. Listen closely. Underwood is from Michigan, yet how many times has he came to LSU for events?

We don't hear anything at all about the money 99% of the kids are making. Well, unless it's the infamous "sliced bread" who came up with the $20M figure he said was paid to A&M recruits, a figure people believed because they wanted to.

My point was that people just believe whatever the figure is that's being passed around, because they want to believe it. It's easy for someone to just pluck out a number and watch it spread across the internet. I doubt there is any top recruit who isn't getting paid, but I question the figures tossed about by anonymous internet posters.

It will only keep going up. In 4 years it’ll take 11 million to land a recruit like him. You’ll have to spend 80-150 million a recruiting class each year. I wish some idiot billionaire with stupid money would reset the market beyond control. Pay recruits 90 million each just make it so absurd the entire sport collapses

I’m sure the idiots running the NCAA thought this is what NIL would lead to.

No. You won't have to, because no school can afford to pay that.

NFL payroll is limited to $255mil per year.

How often is this really the case? People always assume these kids come from bad conditions but it's not nearly as common as people think.
