Every class we take there are kids that just don't pan out who were very high rated. They either end up being huge bust, get buried on the depth chart or they get themselves into things that get them removed from the team. This year we will have some attrition of some kids we expected big things from for one reason or another. With that being said, I don't have a problem offering both Sopsher brothers if it means we get the big fish.

Also, saving the scholly for next year guarantee's absolutely nothing. If you can get a potential star D-Lineman then you do it.

if Ish turns out to be a stud then it's worth it. if he doesn't then its not worth it. time will tell

I don’t really care if Rodney never contributes. Taking everything into consideration people may not like it, but it has to be done. If we land Sopsher, it’s a massive win. It’s not like we have a ridiculous amount of targets that still want on board anyways. In a perfect world Rodney would never be at LSU, but it’s 2 years, and I’m all for it at this point.

Take both and hope to hell that Rodney pays his dues like Lanard and grows in someone that contributes to your team.

He plays a position of need and will likely be motivated. It's kinda like the Griffin situation at UCF a few years ago

Has anyone considered if we send the paperwork to Ish and Rodney and only Rodney sends his back in and Ish signs with Bama.

Total possibly Saban master plan to get Ish as nd screw LSU

Im in the camp of offer both but continue to recruit other DLs...And if we fill class with 2 or 3 of the "Young, Pickering, FSU commit etc..." then sorry but we are full, shoulda committed sooner...And I think that is obvious what O is doing anyway

Also be transparent with Ish, don't wanna burn bridges

Yes this has been discussed plenty and NO it will never happen...Do you honestly think that the Coaching staff will accept Rodney before Ish is sign sealed delivered

Also have to ask, how do you think Rodney would be treated by the team if that was to happen? How do you think practice will go for him?

We need to make a statement in Amite. There are a lot of great athletes there and we can't continue to let Bama get whoever they want there. We need Rodney, Ish, and Lee to keep the fence high. Worth the risk and relationships in the area.

Hard to argue with that. If we only knew...

I'm not, at all.

What I am on board with is not having him on the team in any shape or form that way a booster can give him a far overpaid job that more than pays for his cost for school.

That way he and Ishmael can go to school together, and we're not at risk for any penalties as long as Rodney isn't giving any of that money to Ish.

They can share a ride, that Rodney got on a 99yr deferred loan, Ish can raid his fridge, etc. Just don't hand him cash, non-consumable gifts, or real property.

If he comes to LSU and isnt a superstar, then he will be absolutely hated at LSU, as he should be. We already have a reputation on eating our own. Let quotes come out that you clearly want to play for Bama, only come to LSU because we are the only ones that offered your brother that is not good enough to compete anywhere else, and then become a bust. He better be an absolute stud to warrant all the bullshite. I dont root against any Tigers, especially while theyre playing here (frick you Eric Reid and Ben Simmons), but can we all honestly sit here and say that this isnt a good situation and that LSU is being held “hostage” for lack of a better term? This kid has lazy and entitled written all over him.

I 100 percent agree, this is the most accurate statement yet. People ranting over offering the kid don't understand we recruit guys that neverrr touch the field.

What happens if Rodney's accepted offer comes over the fax machine first and Ish's does not follow? Just wondering. Recruiting is a dirty business. This sounds like something Orgeron would have orchestrated when he was at Tennessee.

Rodney's will not be sent out until Ish's is sent back in signed

I think it depends on the relationship between the LSU staff and Sopsher.

There is nothing wrong with doing your best to ensure your player/employee is happy - to an extent.

But there has to be respect both ways. Sopsher must understand that he is just one of many talented players and that the coaches will not be giving into every demand of his.

So does almost every other high school star that has been told how awesome he is since pee wee football.

Sophser has the size and ability to be great. The attitude and work ethic can be taught when he's surrounded by coaches and motivated players. Like a lot of guys, he hasnt been challenged or motivated in high school. Every college team in America would take him for a reason.

True, but why does that mean taking a guaranteed non contributor is a good idea? Makes no sense. If Ish is a year one difference, then I suppose it is worth it, but is he? I have seen very mixed reviews of him on every site and board I have checked for the past 6-8 months.
