So much for being a category one. Sounds stronger than expected. We have had 80+mph gusts here in Kenner and I have already lost some soffit and fascia.

113mph is just getting into a cat 3

The extremely low pressure of this storm is finally showing itself.

They don't do categories based on gusts. It's based on maximum sustained winds.
It's still just a Cat 1. Calm down.

That isn't even the worst. New Orleans has already had 5 inches of rain and they still have at least 24 hours of rain left. 20 inches is a possibility at this point.

I get that, but what do you call a cat 1 that hits land at 6:45, and then at 2:40 it has only shifted a few miles west and is still to make a third landfall.
We have been in roughly the same spot as far as bands for the past six+hours.

You call it a Cat 1. The problem is, the only thing the SS scale is concerned with is wind speed. A big, stationary, strengthening Cat 1 is not the same as a small quickly moving Cat 1.

Thi storm is quickly turning from a garden variety tropical storm into a complete shite show. I've lost count on the numbers of transformers I've seen exploding.

Are you driving around trying to guess which one goes up next.
