because it is so slow-moving and the characteristics of South Louisiana, landfall will not weaken this storm as much or as fast as a fast-moving storm.

I suppose I have to take you at face value because you at least can fake knowing what your talking about.......regardless if this thing hits land as a 75MPH Cat 1 it is still a strong TS at best when the eye come through BR correct?

Basically 100% chance now that BR is going to see TS force winds now at a minimum....will most likely be in the 50-70 range.

What is the closest that an eye of a storm has ever come to Baton Rouge?

This one, if the path stays true, is gonna slide just to the West of BR.

Will never happen. Just like Gustav, they posted up in NOLA, saw that there was no damage, then acted like the storm didn't do anything.

just answered my own question

quote:

Severe weather due to Tropical Storm Isaac is causing some unavoidable service delays in Mississippi and Louisiana. No pickups, deliveries, or On-Call Pickup® service are available in the ZIP Codes listed below:

Thats it? I admit I don't know much about hurricanes but I would have guessed they would have been over 100. Its crazy that it did that much damage with winds that were only that fast.

I think the reason for that is because people don't appreciate how small the damaging winds are.

When you see a Cat 3 storm, those winds are like 50 miles wide.

But someone 150 miles away gets TS force winds, but acts like he took a 3 just as hard as the ones in the path of the eye.

This isn't a powerful storm, but the fact that it's tracking on top of BR is going to ruin a lot of days.
