just saw where ulm canceled class for tomorrow and friday if that tells you anything
Then I assume they are going to cancel school for the elementary schools too. It would be nice to have a day off to get my Fantasy Football draft together. I dont think we will have much to worry about up here. What you think?

I'd be a little surprised if it was still a cat 1 by the time it hit BR. We were never under a hurricane watch here anyway, always a TS watch. But like I said, who fricking knows with this bipolar storm.
Even money that we get hurricane force winds sustained JUST because meteorologists projected it not to happen.

not to be a dick but why the frick would anyone stay in Plaquemine Parish for a hurricane?
Posted on 8/29/12 at 11:32 am to Elleshoe
and there's flooding in da Parish?? What is this they are talking about on TWC?
Posted on 8/29/12 at 11:32 am to Elleshoe
Those people saving the dogs from the storm on TWC

I find it hard to feel much sympathy for the people being rescued down there.....they were told to GTFO in time.

Because plenty of people didn't realize how strong this storm actually is.

Many of the schools (I think most) have already announced closures.
I bet we get slammed, and I'll be watching it from my office window instead of bedroom window.
I'm going to be making a big pot of jambalaya tomorrow if any of you Monrovians feel like having a Garden District party.

Except for the mass flooding that will certainly occur...and the farmers losing their crops. Other than that we will be fine.

If you live on a barrier island you should probably know by now to just GTFO. Hell, drive to fricking Metairie

How are your hurricane projections holding up?

BR, get ready. Bout to get slammed for a long stretch of time.

I never made a projection. We all knew we were taking a bit of this 'cane. But so far just as I expected. Lots of wind and rain in BR and not much else. Power still going strong even.
Who the frick are you anyway?

From a wind speed standpoint, it really couldn't be any weaker and still called a hurricane. It's not like it took some unrecognized giant to wipe out Plaquemines Parish. Anything with the words hurricane or tropical storm should equal automatic leaving for those folks down there.
