If you are pulling for purple at least pull for it to hit way into Texas instead of Cameron.

LaPlace shutting down water... If you haven't got bottles - Get to boiling quickly.

Anyone near White Castle? Got some family around there.

I've called but it's early.

Still have lights & cable in Old Gretna. Hard for me to believe, b/c this wind has been pretty rough. Started packing everything in to the freezer last night when lights started to flicker... 3 hours later, I was taking everything out and putting it back in the fridge.

They're still getting info - they figured it was a break in a main line somewhere and they can't keep up the pressure to keep the sediment and whatnot out.

They just said they're worried about the brackish water contaminating the water supply in LaPlace and that's why it was shut down.

The area were it is flooding is outside the main levee system. It has only 8' levees around that area.

Man, I'm coming to NOLA next time you guys get a Hurricane. I love stormy weather and I'm that dope that rides the roads looking to see if there's people that need help. I've been through some big arse tornados, mild earthquakes, crazy flooding, 24" snowfall blizzards, droughts, 115 degree summers, and I need to check Hurricane off the list.

Is there any type of weather event that would cause the storm to speed up now that it has reach land?

Or are we destined to suffer the next 18 hours with a slow moving system?

just saw something real cool and sad at the same time. I live on a lake. Well apparently a seagull got caught in the wind and was flying in the open. For about 5 minutes he was fighting in the wind and was just getting dominated. It looked exhausted. Finally a big gust came and took him off and away. Crazy!
