Zoysia sod question for Crawdude and experts

The Dimension label states to apply to “established” lawns, 3 weeks would not be considered established, more like 3+ months. You might want to forgo application in the Zoysia sodded area until next spring. This would apply to most, if not all, the pre-emergent herbicides.

Use Dimension 2EW on seeded, sodded, or sprigged lawns, ornamental
turfgrass and unimproved turfgrass that are well established. Newly
established turf must have developed a good root system and a uniform
stand, and have received at least two mowings following seeding or

well-established, or has been weakened by weather, pest, disease,
chemical, mechanical, or other related stress, may result in turf injury.”

Second this. Only thing you should put on new sod is water.

What about putting down Scott’s Turf Builder for new sod which has a high phosphorus content for root development.?

Unnecessary man. Just water it and let it go dormant then start your weed and fertilizer treatments in the spring.

I wouldn't do any preemergent for the fall. The spring would probably be okay. Premergent may effect how your sod roots and may slow the rooting process down, causing you to water more.

I would check in Feb and see if your sod is fairly rooted(it should be) and then if so, go for it on the premergent.

It does this very well. Just hope you got rid of all of the common Bermuda that might have been in the soil. My zoysia is doing great except in maybe 10% of my yard where I dodnt get the Bermuda nice and killed. Seems like mowing the grass taller there lets the zoysia win the battle but the war wages on.
