LSU isn't doing soil samples right now b/c of the corona.
Is there somewhere else in BR i can get a quick soil analysis done?

It's warming up, i'm about to cut the grass today for the third time since it has warmed up and my grass is mostly green everywhere, and it's supposed to rain on Monday, so i was hoping to put down some fertilizer Sunday but not sure what i should be putting down.
I haven't fertilized my grass in a good 4 years, all St. Aug.
I did the winter weed cocktail with great success, and put down the pre emergent. Yard already looks 10xs better than last year.

Is there a "can't go wrong" fertilizer i shoudl use if i can't get a soil analysis?

Something with formula like Bonus S, but since you have pre emerge down, something like this would work. LINK

Milorganite is another option

The Lowe’s StaGreen 29-0-5 suggested by jimbeam would be a good one for St Augustine. I’d use 3.5 lbs per 1000 sq ft to provide you with the recommended 1 lb of N per 1000 sq ft per application. Repeat in June and August. Cut your grass at 3 to 3 1/2 inches in height and you might have the best looking lawn you’ve ever had. A healthy, thick lawn is an excellent weed suppressant.

You can wait until the LSU AgCenter STPAL lab is back open for business to have your soil analyzed. As a side note, I think Site One Landscape Supply, there is one in Mandeville and Baton Rouge, provide a soil testing service - I’ve seen the bags in their store in BR. Its not done in house, they mail the samples to a analytical lab somewhere. I don’t the cost, turn around time or even if that part of the business is in operation at this time.

Milorganite. It's not always 100% the best option, but it often is, and at worst is still good. You can't frick up with it because it is 100% organic. It will not burn your yard. Slow release and has iron. The application is a little heavy so it's not the cheapest option. I put down two 32 pound bags in my backyard that is right at 5000sf2. That was about $35 in product, so it's not incredibly expensive either. Has a unique smell that I personally enjoy.

Gentleman at Cleggs said the milorganite is better for centipede, and recommended a st aug fertilizer that was 29-0-5

It is. Human shite from a municipal waste treatment plant. That being said it doesn't just smell like human shite. There's something different about it.

The dog loses his mind when I let him out after putting it down.

It really ticks me off when people cut St Aug at like 2inches.

My neighbor does this. But I’m not complaining, it makes my grass look 10x better.

Centipede does have a much lower fertilization requirement than St Augustine. I believe Milorganite has a 6-4-0 NPK analysis - according to their label. If one follows Milorganite application rate of 32 lbs per 2,500 sq ft that would apply the equivalent of 0.75 lbs of N per1.000 sq ft per application (technically 0.76).

That is 0.25 lb of N per 1000 sq ft more than the university recommended application rate of 0.5 lbs of N per 1000 sq ft for centipede, and 0.25 lb less than the recommended 1 lb of N per 1000 sq ft for St Augustine.

If I was using Milorganite on centipede I would reduce their recommended application rate 33%, and if using it on St Aug, I’d increase their recommended application by 25%, to provide the equivalent recommended amount of N per application recommended by land grant universities in the southern states.
