Got quoted $280, which is a discount because the dirt comes from 2 miles away. It would regularly be $300. I remember when a load was $125. This is for a 21 yard load, if it changes anything. Maybe my thinking of $125 was for less yards. Enlightenment me H&G board.

Sounds like a good price for topsoil. Fill dirt maybe not.

I pay around $235 for an 18 yard load of dirt or river sand.

River sand here in Slidell is $230, mason sand is about 260-280 now.

That’s a fair price, especially with the cost of trucking these days. Even if it is just two miles.

Fuel, insurance, cost/lack of repair parts, and the owner's cost of living.

That's what's going on.

Inflation. "Dirt cheap" no longer applies.

In the materials business, the 3 biggest determinations of price are labor (truck drivers' & excavators' salaries), fuel and demand vs. supply. We are know about fuel and how hard it is to find someone to work. Add into the mix that there was a lot of building going on, so demand is up, and supply is being squeezed because of the formerly crazy real estate market.

I see the supply/demand already starting to ease. Labor will be next. Fuel...maybe 2 years?

For a one-trip load of fill dirt it's a fair price.
Site subcontractors are getting $10/cy for select fill delivered truck bed measure, but your talking about multiple loads, in, and removing spoils, out.

Piggy backing. What are people seeing for a delivered load of crushed limestone in the BR area?
