Looks like crabgrass.

If so, MSM would kill. Or you can pull it out of the ground.

Looks like crabgrass. I HATE this stuff. I think to get rid of it, you have to dig it up. It seems as though when I dig one up, another one pops up across the yard.

Looks like dallisgrass. I pull mine out manually if I see some, but you have quite a stand. I would probably nuke it with roundup, then repair the area with sod.

Folks, this is what type of lawn you get when you buy your sod from a garage sale.

Only kidding, love your threads. Looks like dallisgrass. Those are some pretty large patches. Your options are to dig it out with a shovel or use glyphosate then pull it out. Either way, you’ll have to buy a few pieces of sod to replace the bare spots.

Try to get it early next time before it matures so much.

You got about 8 different types of shite in that one area lol. I agree. Nuke that shite and plant sod of what you want and maintain it from there

I went and bought MSM. That’s some strong shite. It’s like ten granules per gallon.

I sprayed the area, we’ll find out. How long till I see results. I was a little scared and may have made it too weak. I used probably less than 1/8 teaspoon per gallon

It’s Dallisgrass. Glyphosate and start over.

I had dallisgrass clumps like that right on the property line when I moved in my previous house. I watered the area pretty thoroughly and then pulled it out by hand. It seemed impossible to get it all in one session so I’d walk through the area daily and pull any small sections that were still there. The good news is that I eventually got it all and the Bermuda grass grew back fast. The bad news was that my neighbor wasn’t as concerned about his yard so new clumps showed up occasionally.

Unless you meant MSMA, you won’t hurt the dallisgrass with MSM Turf.

correct. I use a 4-prong “cultivator” rake to loosen the stools and pull up with the rake or by hand. Herbicide won’t kill DG but will kill your centipede for forever.

Spray round up in the center of it. Wait a few days then pull it up.

I don’t know why most everyone on this board thinks you can’t kill Dallis grass or Crabgrass with an over the counter chemical. We all use Celsius on stuff like that over here in the Mobile area and it kills it. Yes I know the label says it only suppresses it, but the stuff never has come back in my yard or my immediate neighbors next door or across the street. Sprayed that Celsius on my dozen or so clumps of Dallis Grass every other week for 3 weeks and it did not grow back and that was 2-3 years ago.

My buddy that lives 4 houses down bought something that I did not think would work, nor have I ever seen this specific Image in the past. He went to Tractor Supply and bought “Image All In One” weed killer for $25. It has a blueish grey color top. Right on the bottle it says will kill “broadleaf weeds” and “grasses such as crabgrass”. He mixed 4 ounces per gallon and that stuff didn’t take a week or two to show signs it was working. It killed the crabgrass dead as hell in 2-3 days. He sprayed it around mid morning and by the next day you could clearly see it was working. I was scared my friend measured it wrong and killed his grass too but the grass is still alive and the weeds are dead. Now that Dallis Grass got knocked back and shriveled it up, but it did not totally eradicate all of it the first time he sprayed it. He mowed that half dead Dallis Grass short and sprayed it again the other day when it was 88 degrees and that Dallis Grass is dead. Could it come back. Absolutely. Do I think it comes back this year. Nope. Looks like he sprayed it with Roundup. It’s dead as fried chicken.

This different kind of Image I’ve never seen before will only work on centipede, zoysia, and bermuda. It will kill St Augustine. It says it on the bottle specifically don’t use on St Augustine. The active ingredient is Sulfentrazone 1.6%, Quinclorac 5%, other ingredients 93.4%. Now I don’t know anything about these chemicals, but whatever I just listed is in that Image All In One and it killed the hell out of damn near every weed in my weed infested buddies yard. For $25 it’s worth a shot because that Celsius is ridiculously high albeit the stuff works pretty damn good. Best of luck.

Quinclorac can supress/kill Dallisgrass with repeated applications. The label will say that you can't use it on centipede though.

It clearly read safe for bermuda, zoysia, and centipede on the label. I attached the link for you. It says not to use on St. Augustine. It didn’t kill the centipede in my friends yard and he sprayed his entire yard with it. I’m no expert on weed killing chemicals, but what I’ve stated is accurate according to the directions. For $25 this stuff isn’t a bad deal particularly if you have crabgrass and are on a budget.

Quinclorac that Ronk is talking about is 75% Quinclorac. The amount that Image uses is only 5%, which at that rate will not kill centipede.

If it’s not enough to kill centipede, it’s not enough to tickle Dallisgrass.

Regardless, the OPs patches of dallisgrass are so large that there is no grass growing there to kill anyway. Nuke it and resod.
