Bought a house in august. Looks like former owner painted over some roof leaks spots.Never noticed any obvious leaking till a month or so ago. Water on the floor now. Different rooms.

Just put a new, $23k roof on 3800 sq foot single floor home built in the late 40's.

Probably most reputable roofer in Baton Rouge.

Still damn leaking in same spots around the house. !

How can that happen?

There are a number of issues that can cause this but it is likely coming from around an existing roof penetration like a vent or pipe jack.
Go up in the attic while it’s raining to see exactly where it’s coming from and definitely call the roofer ASAP so he can help troubleshoot.
It may be as simple as not sealing/resetting a storm collar on a furnace vent or something else that was overlooked.

Agree with the above. Check roof jacks and vents I’ve seen roofers completely forget to reconnect roof jacks to the pipe stand vent coming out of the house. We had a water heater vent that they pulled out and disconnected completely and left it that way, never coming back to reconnect. Flashing around dormers hips and valleys are all critical as well.

This.

You can also go into the attic, with a flashlight, find a spot under a roof pipe, pipe jack, etc. Look for daylight coming through. Once you turn the flashlight out, see where the light is coming. Second, when you have a good rain, go into the attic, look for the leaks and drips .

Saying the house was built in the 40’s, back then, they didn’t have much of an attic.

1940’s homes had lead seals around roof penetrations. Squirrels chew the lead away and rain passes through and runs down plywood then drips off edges between boards. Get some good silicone and fill the gaps between roofing and pipes penetrating through.

Curious to see who that is. If they are the big blue one, PS, they are probably one of the worst in Baton Rouge. Just because you have a lot of money and can advertise like crazy does not mean they are good

Don't get scared. I've used PS multiple times in the past with no issues, and their prices are fair. Unless you have an all gringo crew, the crews are all transient.

Yes and no. With them it depends who you get. They don’t have anyone there during the install watching the guys, inspecting the work, etc. Just like most people, if there’s no oversight you may cut some corners, make mistakes, etc.

Had a leak I could never find but ceiling would get wet when it rained. After a chuck of rock came down I got a roofer and in 5 min he found a decking nail that had backed out. The water was following a stud down and impossible to see.

Don’t hesitate to call the roofer back. It is very rare that they don’t have to go back out on a re-roofed house the first time it rains.
