Preferably gas powered. TIA

I've got a 2 stroke Echo I swear by. Bought it 4 years ago and have not had any trouble with it in all that time. Easy to load new trimmer line since you can do so without removing the spool----starts easy and runs strong.
Pretty sure it was under $200 at the time but probably a bit higher now after 4 years time.

Echo SRM-225 is the standard go to recommendation.
If you have a smaller home with minimal trimming needed, probably could get by with a lighter, battery powered device.
If you have a larger property or a pond or something needing significant trimming, there are some better options from Stihl.

I second the Echo 225. I only have an acre but my ditches have killed two Ryobi battery powered.
Echo has been issue free.

More important than the brand is using ethanol free gas and a quality oil mix. The commercial rated trimmers have the power to get through the thick grass. I have a Stihl FS100RX that has been trouble free for over ten years.

Need more info on your property. Echo/Stihl/Shindaiwa are amongst the quality options. Whether you go lighter/smaller or heavier duty within those brands and options is dependent on your needs. As others mentioned, the Echo SRM 225 is popular for most neighborhood sized yards.

I stay on top of my yard (.4 acres) pretty good and my SRM 225 is all I need. I’ve had it for 7yrs now and never had an issue with it. Speed feed head plus .95 string makes things easy

First, appreciate everyone taking time to respond. My place in Katy took me about 15 minutes max to weed-whack. This other place is almost an acre with water, several live oaks, etc. Different animal.
Currently have a low-end Troy Bilt. Worked well for my small yard.
And yes, I'm using ethanol free gas.

Echo 2620 2620T has the higher torque head.

Echo, mine has been going strong for like 12 years or more. I have only replaced a dry rot primer bulb. Fuel quality is the most important.

I have both the Echo and Stihl FS 90R. The ECHO is a unit and a much better product.

It really is about the perfect neighborhood weed eater. I think they even come with the speed feed attachment already installed nowadays. That's a real game-changer for ease of use. What was always the most frustrating thing about weed-eating became the simplest part. (Adding more line while you're working. Just bump it on the ground and there ya go.)
I'll eventually get an electric weed eater/lawn mower, but my gas powered tools have been so damn good for so many years.
