I've got 2 raised garden beds in the NOLA area. I've got a sprinkler on a timer setup to run for 20 mins everyday at 9:30 am. Wondering if I'm under watering or over watering? Any advice helps.

I would water once the sun is going down in the evenings.

With our heat turning up, you’ll have to water more frequently. Watering at night means they don’t dry out really well and diseases creep in more.
With that said, occasionally some of mine get twice a day (depending on how they look) but I do it early enough in the evening to let their leaves dry well before dark.

Raised beds generally need daily watering. I have my timer set to 45 minutes now and that is too much, I just haven't changed it. It isn't hurting anything right now. All of my plants are in grow bags or planters. Most are getting to the point where they are where they are going to be for the season with the size they are getting.

too much and too late, 20 minutes is drowning the area, and you dont want to water until its cooler in mornings and evenings

set it for 5 minutes around 7am and again around 7pm, 5 minutes on sprinkler is more then enough to give the ground all the water is needs and can hold

Soaker hoses are much better IMO. My timer is set for 60 mins every other day at 3pm.

I have 4 4x8 beds and they each get 2 gallons of water every couple days, because I have a two gallon watering can. Once I get around to burying a 50 ft water line to my garden I can’t wait to install a drip system

Right now I'm doing 3 days a week. I tapped into my sprinkler system and capped off one of the zones that was basically just watering pine needles. When that zone goes off, it waters my 3 raised beds now for 10 minutes through a drip system I put in. Plus they get some water from over spray of the zone next to it. I always have watered the lawn first thing in the morning as I was told letting it sit wet could bring on disease. Morning lets it soak into the soil without evaporating, but the sun will evaporate what doesn't soak in. If the ground around my beds seems damp/moist, I feel like I'm watering enough. When I can tell it gets to a point that it's dried out, I increase the frequency on the watering of the raised beds.

I converted from sprinkler heads to drip. Much better.

Try something like this... ($20)

I didnt use the hose end and just connected it to the existing irrigation line. The ends are adjustable so you can get the amount of water for each plant just like you want.

Wouldn’t this cause the plants to stay moist overnight and possible mildew and mold?

I was always told to water early in the morning so that the water can soak into the soil, be absorbed by the plants, and not evaporate under the heat of the sun
