Upgrading interior stair spindles to wrought iron

Wife is twisting my arm to replace existing stair spindles with wrought iron. Here is a photo:
Is this something I can do on my own? If not what kind of cost am I looking at?
TIA

King Architectural Metals. Very cheap wrought iron. You can pay $3 a spindle or $20 depending on how fancy you want it. I just built an iron staircase and it turned out nice.

Can’t be cheap. I had a dude in Gonzales make mine for $800 for about 5 feet worth.

That's gonna make your column stand out.

That's gonna look hideous IMO.

OP, go to Home Depot and buy several black metal spindles and sporadically place them in front of some of the white spindles. Give your wife a real idea of what it'll look like in her home instead of what she saw on pinterest. While the black spindles will make the area feel more open, I can think of hundreds of better ways to waste thousands of dollars

This type looks better IMO

Agreed. If that's yours, looks great.

I hate cheesy details like that. It's an abomination.
There are some really shitty flourishes put in expensive homes that make them look like a poser lives there.

I just had mine re-done, it looks much better with the iron spindles. I probably have about 25% more railing than you have. It cost us $3,800. New hand rail & spindles and they took the circle at the bottom off as we ran it straight.

go all wrought iron or not but combination of wood and iron never looks good or ends up as rigid and strong IMHO
