Torpedo in my Zoysia

I have about a 10x10ft patch of torpedo starting to take over in the middle of my zoysia lawn. What should I go with to try and get rid of it while trying to spare the zoysia?

Find out where it’s coming from. If it’s coming from neighboring yards you cooked. If it’s just in your yard glyphosate until it’s gone and then patch the zoysia.

I had a small amount my first year with zoysia. The whole reason I went with zoysias was due to the ability to treat torpedo grass.
I had torpedo in my centipede 15 years ago and had to utilize the nuclear option.
Quinclorac works. I think I hit it every 10 days or so until I didn’t see it. It may stunt your zoysia but won’t kill it. I spot treated.

New construction house, moved in last spring. It was a patch of very compacted struggling zoysia. So this spring, I took a 1 inch auger bit and drilled holes and filled with soil to help it out. All it did was allow torpedo to start popping up there.

Spray the area and all around it with this. Repeat it 2 weeks and again in another 2 weeks.
Will make the torpedo yellow and will leave Zoysia alone.
If you want to nuke the area with glyphosphate instead, you would have to resod the area

Where did you get that soil? Was it river sand?

Not the worse thing since you probably brought it with the soil. I would go nuclear on it. Spray and just let the grass die and wait until next year to fix. Make sure you get it all.

Cheapest has nothing to do with torpedo. That batture dirt is not always cheap and some of the best for building and grading. But it is full of torpedo.

Xlr8. Only thing I found that works. Sprayed once a week for 3 weeks so far and it’s like straw. Turf guy told me spray until November.
