I don't know the cost, but I do recommend using Michael Paul's Natural Stone. They did mine, and everything they did was precise and professional.

for something that small I would go with one of the cheap places like E&E granite and cabinets

Not sure how much this will help. We paid about $75/sq foot for a new install for 3" quartzite. I would imagine if you want replacing you would be looking at a minimum of $100/sq foot?

I did my whole kitchen with granite a few years ago in the BR area. It took two slabs. Demo, install, and materials was around $5k. The cost will vary wildly depending on which material you use.

Recently needed almost the exact size, but in Quartz. Wife went to several places and ended up getting a great deal because we go them from the scraps. $800 bucks for both tops, back and side splashes with a sink cut out in each. We installed them.

Shop hard. This is a dirty bunch of sellers. I had a crappy experience with Lowes and told them to stuff it.

In short, I measured my counters, they advertised a rate per square foot, and somehow they were double. They refused to talk it over, give options, break things out, and then got butt hurt when I accused them of having hidden fees. Do not bother with Lowes counters. They suck.

We found a local shop and played coy with them for a month or two and they made a deal. Legacy Granite in Pensacola and Bay Minette. Really quality work, on time, got stuff done, no wheeling and dealing, hidden fees, etc... I don't know if they'll go to Baton Rouge but if they do, ask for Amanda. They did a good job at half the price of Lowes.

Do you know the breakdown between labor and materials? We’re doing Taj Mahal quartzite in our new build and looking for a ballpark price range.

Correct. The countertop business is more shady than the car business.

Lowe's/Home Depot will outsource all that work and limit what those companies can do for their work, at least that was my experience when installing my front door and sliding glass doors. They wouldn't allow the workers to break into drywall. shite like that. I imagine countertop work is pretty annoying to work on with those stores as well. Just go to a stone/countertop company directly.

I do not. All I know is that the price / sq foot was including all the work and material. Deposit of around 25%+ upfront. Remainder paid after work is completed. They come in and laser out the measurements, sent us what they would do, cut out the holes for the sink (we even had a hole cut out for our coffee bar to have the wires run beneath the countertop. They also give the option to have a rounded edge vs. straight edge for the countertops. I went with straightedge.

ballpark price rang

I did see stone going for up to $125+ but didn't like them anyway. My quartzite was relatively cheaper compared to the others. Average price seemed to be closer to $90/sq foot. We had almost 70 sq ft to work. I liked the movement and color in it and we actually got to pick out the exact slab that would be used. The facility has a warehouse behind with and they let us tour it to help us decide because it was much easier than looking at a sample piece in the showroom. They did however let us take a sample stone to bring home to put up against cabinets and see how we liked it.

I don't mind the outsourcing thing if it makes sense.

My beef with Lowes is this: I measured my countertops. Let's say I have 20sqft. Lowes has a rate for countertops, installed. Let's say $100/sqft. My bill should be $2000 total. I don't doubt there is a hidden fee or contingency that might kick it up to $2200 or 2500.

Nope. They wanted double of (price/1sqft)*(Tot sqft). That would be $4000 in the above example. I also asked for an option of another non-contiguous counter and they threw that in the base price and refused to break it out. They also refused to show me how they got to 2x budget other than saying "there are some large piece fees and hole fees but we don't have hidden fees".

I told the lady to go pound sand. For as much as I've spent recently rehabbing this house, it sucked, and we have spent very little there after this event. Most went to Home Depot or Ace.

This is off the thread topic but I'd be interested to know what you rehabbed and how much you spent for it.

Yes Lowes and Home Depot have gotten into the ‘services’ a lot for profit. All they do is hire out 3rd parties and often times crappy vendors at that and give a substantial middle man mark up. I would never use their services, all you are doing is paying extra for a middle man.

Op I just got a quote:
$55-75sq ft for stone- $700
$75 for new sink
$175 each to cut sink hole
Removal and disposal $6/ sq ft- $80

Basically give or take about $1000/ vanity. That doesn’t include a new faucet or install/ removal of a faucet.
