Of all the solutions on the internet, what finally worked for you?

I had them a few weeks ago. I got some eco clog preventer from Lowe’s. Poured it in at night and closed the drain and then opened and rinsed with hot water the next morning. Seems to have worked.

If thy have eggs in the sink, and they likely will, you need to treat daily for a few days.

Zep drain the fence worked for me. Cheaper at Lowe's or home Depot than Amazon. I believe they're coming in with the produce from the produce market. Mainly the big jumbo onions. At least for me. Apparently it's not caustic so you can leave it down there overnight further directions.

Zep drain, then they sell these little fruit fly traps that look like apples. They are miracle workers!

Zevo flying insect spray first thing in the morning when I come in kitchen, start at drain and work out. Especially if leaving some bits of stuff in drain. Then spray garbage. Add in the red apple looking traps with the vinegar smelling solution around sink and other parts of kitchen.

We fought these damn flies for a couple weeks before we realized they were in the sink/drain. Did the Vinegar/Baking soda/Hot water deal down the drain once a day for a few few days, bought some sticky traps that plugged into an outlet that seemed to help a good bit, and the fruit fly apple looking traps, which Im 99% sure is just apple cider vinegar.

It really is a multi layered approach. At work it takes cleaning duties, bombing the restaurant, fly traps, and removal of locations for them to feed and breed. Putting crap down the drain is necessary but don't forget to look around your area for hard to clean places like mats or if you leave any type of food out

Are they fruit flies or drain flies?

Not sure, they are definitely dark in color like the Drain Flies. They started in the recycle bin in the garage and have migrated inside to the sink. Recycling stays outside now.

Fruit fly trap worked for us.

I pour vinegar down the sink at night before I go to bed and let it sit. Does pretty well. I'm guessing the actual fly poison would work better though.

You can catch a bunch of them with apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap in a small jar or anything like that as well.
