How much Atrazine per gallon of water? I couldn't find it anywhere on my bottle.

If it’s a 4% atrazine product the mixture would be 8.6 oz in 2 gallons applied over 1000 sq ft.

Here is the label for the Hi Yield Atrazine product LINK. If you have a different brand, but it’s still 4% atrazine, you can use this label for guidance.

January-spot treat with atrazine and certainty for grassy weeds and trimec for broadleaf. End of February-barricade pre em. Same weed treatment as before. End of March/beginning of April-barricade. Apply iron and propiconizole. First of July-25-3-5 or iron. Celsius Mid August 25-3-5 or iron. Celsius First of October-specticle if that is too pricey then simazine. Trimec for broadleaf Mid November-if you did specticle then nothing. If you did simazine then do simazine again. Trimec for broadleaf December-I put down potash but a lot don't.

Won't doing all of that make the grass grow faster? Sounds counter productive.

It’s either make the grass grow or make the weeds grow. And the weeds grow faster and year round.

This is the home and garden board not the trailer and gravel driveway board. We grow grass here bitch.

ETA: I say this in a joking manor.

I can spray weed free zone in the cold as long as it isn't below freezing, right?

That would be true but the herbicide is most effective when the weeds are actively growing and at temps between 65-80 F so you might want to time your spraying in the afternoon when temps are warmer to enhance the herbicide update.

Ronk, what brand 25-3-5 granular fertilizer do you use and where do you find it? I'm in the BR area.

You won’t be able to get what I use. Mine comes from bonus crop fertilizer in Greenville, Tx.

Weed free zone will smoke clovers. 1-2oz per gallon plus 2tsb surfactant. Don’t use if temps 80+ degrees.

What do you recommend for insect control for centipede? Lawn got smoked by something last summer and don’t want that to happen again.

LINK

Bifen XTS. Spray it over the entire yard when the temperatures are 60-85 degrees. It'll kill anything and everything for a good 1-2 months. Unlike talstar this isn't something that insects can detect.

Is this the same ratio for spot spraying? I have a couple small areas maybe 20x20 that will be ‘broadcast’ but generally it will be spot sprayed too. 8.6oz per 1000sq Ft seems like a lot? I haven’t read the label obviously.

When spot spraying smaller clumps of weeds I mix the 8.6 oz of atrazine in 1 gallon of water - whether or not that is correct amount I can’t say for sure (spot spaying is not covered on the atrazine label) but it’s worked for me without damaging the turfgrass. 8.6 fl oz per 1000 sq ft is the correct amount stated on the label.

I should contact the lawn weed extension specialist with the LSU AgCenter and ask what he’d suggest for spot spraying 4% atrazine. When you apply pre-emergent lawn herbicides as I do, most of your post-emergent weed control is going to be spot spraying small clumps of weeds that escaped pre-emergent application, and not whole lawn spraying.

Now for your 20 x 20 areas, I’d mix 4.3 fl oz (or slightly less) in 1 gallon of water and spray that over the 400 sq ft area.

Thanks! Any concerns putting down preemerget(Barricade) & Bifen at the same time? Also, would be later in the year, but any concerns mixing fert(Milorganite) & Bifen?

None at all. I think when you say mixing you mean putting out one product and then going over the yard a second time. That is totally fine. Don't put both products in the spreader at the same time though. The adjustments on the spreader are different due to different granule size.
