So the little furry bastards completely decimated my onion, radish, and daikon seedlings by digging up my raised bed last night/this morning. Any ideas aside from netting the bed or sitting outside with a pellet gun after I make a roux?

I got a Benjamin air rifle after those bastards wrecked my garden one time. Seems to do the trick. I live in the city and can't use a firearm, but that air rifle has more than enough stopping power.

I shot 24 tree rats last fall. None have come around my house since then.

They cost me about $500 of damage to one of my trucks. I killed dozens of those bastards. I think I still have 20 in my freezer. Also, I have trained my bulldog to chase after them. They don't come around the house anymore. They stay in the woods and I'm fine with that.

A few of those big arse rat traps. Do nail down a stake in the ground and use wire to connect it to the stake.

Nothing repels those bastards. Just kill them. I killed well over a hundred one season and they just kept coming from surrounding areas or making more squirrels. I have basically given up.

Or get a rat terrier and turn him loose in your yard.

I use a Havahart medium 1078 trap baited with sunflower seeds. Drop the trap in wheelbarrow full of water to dispatch them. Release the occasional bird that gets caught. I've lost count of how many squirrels I've caught.

I have a hi-velocity .177. It knocks them down but I have the satisfaction of walking over to them and putting another in their head.

Dude that is fricked up, try something a bit more humane than slowly drowning the damn things.

Get a yard cat. Don’t overfeed it.
You can buy motion activated sprinklers that will startle them away from the area. Havaheart makes several models.

I’m not advocating drowning them, but let’s think about this for a second. First off, looking up drowning of rodents and the research is all over. Multiple studies show it is a humane way to dispatch them as they don’t feel pain and likely don’t understand what’s happening essentially.

Given that, is drowning in a live trap really worse then shooting multiple times with a BB gun? I’ve killed plenty of squirrels and many take multiple shots. That first or second shot isn’t feeling good either.

Given that, if I catch them in a live trap I shoot them in the head with a BB gun. I’d say maybe 30% of the time it’s one shot and instant death. Many times even an almost point blank shot to the head and I shoot them again.

I shoot them with a Gamco air rifle and good pellets. You need at least 1000 FPS to knockem out

IMO you don’t want too high velocity as it cracks the speed of sound. I’ve had great success with heavy .177 pellets as it hits them hard without the cracking sound.

Are you 12 years old? what adult owns a "BB gun"?

Any decent air rifle will not require multiple head shots.

Use a hammer if you dont have anything else but get it over with ASAP.

The Sig ASP20 is fantastic and is under $400. You can get a Hawke 2-7 for about$100. Any of the JSB or H&N pellets in the 10 grain range shoot dime size groups at 30 yards for me.

They are in a cage and moving around. A clean shot is not easy. BB gun/ air gun same thing. Pellet gun better? I’m not saying they won’t die pretty quickly from most the shots to the head, but I’m saying they aren’t instantaneous either most of the time.

Say what you want, in my experience they aren’t dying a whole lot faster from an air gun as they are drowning that’s my point.

I’m 70 and have a Daisy Red Ryder that I shoot squirrels almost every day.
I gave plenty of all kinds off weapons but for squirrels I use the Red Ryder
