My good friend lifts Cypress out the Atchafalaya Spillway. He has his own mill and will custom cut anything you may need. The logs are 20 foot long, they have been cut down for 100 or more years.

I dont see how fishing Cypress out can be that profitable. It's so cheap here next to other hardwoods due to how abundant it is.
Now if he has pecky Cypress there is good money in it.

old growth cypress, or really any wood is valuable. The sunk logs are back from when they were cutting trees that had grown for many many years.

He has Pecky Cypress. He can cut any size. Last time I went down there, he had around 10,000 bf.
I’ve been with him searching for logs. He’s found a number of items while searching for logs.

A wooden hull boat, nice size. Tons of anchors, metal for boats. A nice gun from 1800’s. Remember years ago when a storm came up, you were stuck in the swamp, the boat and everything went with it, when it sank.
Years ago he had a big hog on a dog leash, he told me, don’t go near him, only my wife, my Dad and I can go nears him.
One day he told me, come see what I got, he had two tortoise's, he had got them from overseas. They were yellow in color. The CoonAss that came with me asked, “ You think they any good to eat?” Only a guy like that would want to eat someone’s pet! Lol

You've been here since 2004 and still don't know you can't advertise and sell things?

If it’s been under water for a long time, then it is pecky cypress. Atleast that’s what I thought

pecky cypress is caused by a fungus in the heartwood of a live (and very old) tree. nothing to do with whether it was sunk or not

How to post pictures on here? Thanks

If it’s a picture off the internet, just copy photo and paste in img link. If it’s a pic from your phone, use a hosting site to get the url then copy and paste
