This product says not to use it on St. Augustine grass.
Scotts Turf Builder-Lowes
I have a mixture of St. Aug and Centipede in my yard. The active weed killer in this version is 2-4-D. The Bonus S version of Scotts Weed and Feed has Atrazine as the weed killer in it. I've used weed killers in the past on my lawn with 2.4.D so I was wondering if I could use this and maybe they were just being too cautious on the warning. I just haven't had good luck in the past with Atrazine killing my weeds that are taking over and wanted to try something other than Bonus S. Any thoughts from anyone on this? Maybe there is another product I could get at my local Lowes? Thanks.

Don’t use weed and feeds. Buy straight fertilizer and straight weed killer.

I'm trying to get better with my gardening knowledge, so please explain the why behind this.
I would imagine that the answer lies within the fact that all yards are different across the country, especially within cities and neighborhoods, so buying a somewhat generic weed & feed bag that can work across a broad number of yards may not work 100%?
I really like the Scotts Bonus S I have, but it didn't completely kill off the clovers I'm seeing in two spots along my yard. It could be that I didn't water in the area well enough, I'm not sure. It was my first time trying out granular weed & feed and I have yet to take my soil to a nursery to figure out the exact things I should be doing, but my grass is looking pretty damn healthy and green from what I can tell.

bingo. There are many types of grass which are threatened by many different types of weeds based on region. Scott's sells the same crap in Maine as they do Florida.

Your yard needs both but not at the same time of it's growing cycle. You put it down when the weeds are growing but the grass doesn't need the fertilizer part and boom you just wasted the nutrients. Or, you put it down when you grass needs the fertilizer but the weeds aren't actively growing and boom you just wasted the herbicide part.

I'm pretty sure you'll say it depends on different factors but what fertilizer and what weed killer for SWLA?

The reason you separate them is because of grass types and targets. So the % of N in the one you posted is 28% That is a bit strong for centipede so the way you apply the right amount is by adjust your ports so you throw out less product. Problem is now you are throwing out less weed control too. I didn't look at the label but I'm assuming it has broadleaf weed herbicides in it. Won't do anything if you have crabgrass, poa, etc. Also, if you need to hit the weeds again in two weeks that means you also have to fertilize again in two weeks causing even more problems.

This is what I use (not every time because for centipede and St Aug I'd switch to iron during the summer)
Centipede-16-0-8
St Aug-25-3-5
Bermuda 33-3-6
For weed killer I'd start with msm. The msm I use is Manor.

Well stated - weed & feeds products are a convenience product for consumers trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone - you’ll always be more effective in managing your lawn by treating fertilization and weed control as two separate, but related, lawn management activities.

Bingo!
Weed n Feed is basically a marketing ploy that you really do not benefit from. (learned this through Crawdude and ronk discipleship

Can anyone recommend a good place to get the 23-3-5?

So I’m in a bit of situation
My lawn was green in late January early February bc I did a great job prepping it in the fall. While everyone else but one dude(who laid winter seed by mistake) was brown. I have a mostly centipede lawn, with some tall fescue mixed in bc I’ve used the southern gold mix every summer.
But this is the first year of three( three year old lawn bc I live in a new build) that I’ve had a weed infestation this bad, and especially this early. Clovers and crab grass like crazy. Thankfully no dandelions yet. The entire neighborhood looks bad, the worst I’ve seen it. Lucky my yard isn’t as bad as everyone else
Like I dummy I put down Scott’s triple action the other day bc it’s what I’ve always done. But I went down the rabbit hole of how to fight this stuff off on YouTube and should have go straight weed killer
How long should I wait until laying post emergent down?
I’m gonna mow Sunday after tomorrows rain and also rake up any dead grass pre mow.

That's fine for spot-killing weeds but what do you do when you have an otherwise healthy lawn with with weed infestation? There's a reason they formulated weed and feed products.

You should be fine after two weeks. I would suggest selecting another weed killer with a different mode of action though.

I used to work for Scotts. The reason they formulated weed and feed products is because people will buy them. Scotts is a great company and this isn't bad mouthing them.

Ronk, any leads on where to get the 33-3-6 fertilizer? Coming up empty at SiteOne and other hardware stores...
