My 8 year old Weber Genesis had a pinhole rust hole on the inside of the lid (lid liner). It's the ONLY part that has shown "excessive" wear over 8 years.

I overheard someone say call it in for warranty as most parts are covered for 10 years. I did, they requested photos, some info, and I got approved for complete lid replacement (not just the liner) within 24 hours. The replacement cost + handle is over $500 and I did not pay a dime, not even shipping for the large 45lb package.

My 8yo Weber is now as shiny as she was 8 years ago. I'm pretty sure I use my grill 2-3x more than my friends without Webers, and they are already on grill number 2 or 3. Hopefully I'll get 8+ more years out of her.

Do you have to have registered it or anything prior?

I have a weber than has some minor rust damage and one of the brackets that holds on one of the heat deflectors broke but I don't have my receipt or anything anymore and have never registered it.

I did not have it previously registered until I made the call a few weeks ago.

I did not have receipt (nor EXACT purchase date) when I called and they did not ask for it, BUT I could have gotten a receipt if needed. I purchased originally from Goodwood Hardware.

I have a Genesis 2. Any chance the grates and flame shields are under warranty? Im cooking on rusted corn flakes at the moment.

I'd just buy some stainless grates. The weber cast iron grates aren't like the ones of old.

The warranty is great though, they sent me an entire lid assembly for my last genesis. I have a Genesis II and a my grandpa's old genesis from the 90's and they both work great. Only reason I didn't keep my last genesis longer is because we damaged it pretty badly in a move, it all worked but a couple knows were broken to pieces and the frame and doors were wonky.

Maybe. You would have to look up your model on Weber's warranty page. Grates, burner tubes and flavorizer bars warranty varies. Could be 2-10 years.

I've had excellent customer service from Weber with several products. I'm about to bite the bullet on a Genesis E335 with side burner but without the technology ($1300...ouch). Worth it, imo. I'm curious to see how the integrated searer works.
Question: did you keep your grill covered?

I don't keep mine covered. I have a stainless genesis II, the one from Costco with all the technology. It gets a little pollen on it during pollen season... what that is half the year? I just wipe it down before I use it, we use weekly at minimum so it stays OK.

I had a similar problem earlier this year. TD H&G Board

I registered the grill when I bought it 11 years ago. Sent pic of the lid liner and Weber sent a free replacement.

I don’t mind paying a little extra for a product that the manufacturer will stand behind like that! Hats off to the folks at Weber

Yup, I have a genesis II , called Weber Saturday , sent some pictures and today I received new cooking grates, new flavorizer (flame shields) bars, new warming rack and some new slats for the bottom of the grill that had rusted , all free and under warranty, grill is about 5 years old

Excellent customer service from Weber. I bought a floor model Genesis at Lowes that was reduced to a ridiculous 70% off because the back of the lid had a dent in it. They covered several parts under warranty regardless of the conditions of the purchase. It's 15 years old, and I grilled on it tonight.

The best thing is that when you call their service line, you talk to a nice mid-western lady, as opposed to "Elvez" in Mumbai.
