Have some friends that went with a dark porcelain that resembles hardwood. I actually like the way it looks vs the upkeep of hardwood. What’s the difference in price? Need about 1400 square feet of it.

You can get the tile much cheaper. The labor to install it is going to be more, though.

Yep. Labor and time will be higher.

I like it because the porcelain “wood” tile looks nice and is basically waterproof. The only other downside is that it’s harder. I have to wear house shoes, as walking or standing on it over long periods can give some knee or back fatigue.

Overall though, I would still choose it again.

I put it in my bathroom at previous house. I would use it again. As far as me installing it, my back still hurts.

I've used it before. I'd suggest not going too dark as it shows all the dirt. Consider it permanent.

LVT-Luxury Vinyl Tile is great, but can scratch if you're a brute.

We have porcelain hard wood look in our formal dining room that we use as a TV room... old house. It was way more than the cheap ceramic you can buy today but we are putting that cheap ceramic wood look in the kids rooms. I'd prefer wood, real full planks of wood wall to wall and will do that in our next house.

7 to 8 dollars a square foot labor and materials, not including demo and prep might be less if you can settle on cheaper tile options...I allowed 4.25 a sq foot. for materials.

If it's done well, it can look really nice. Personally, I would go with the vinyl flooring. It's way easier to get a good looking install done and after 10 years or so when you want to change the look of the floor it's super easy to change out. That's just me though.

After my pipes burst in the freeze in Houston, that's what I had installed. I really do love it. It's probably not as durable as the porcelain, but slightly more durable than hardwood. It's very nice to walk on. It's much easier to stand on for a long time. (cooking for Christmas dinner!)

We are 90% done having ~2000 sq ft of wood-looking tile installed... as others said, materials are less and installation is more than LVP. I always wear slippers or flipflops around the house so hard floors don't bug me. I love the look of hardwood but I've always been terrified that we'll ruin it. This tile isn't going to fool anyone into thinking it's wood, it's just a wood-feeling aesthetic, which is still nice.

I've had the same taste in wood colors basically my whole life so it wasn't hard to accept that it's pretty permanent. Ours is a walnut color that's pretty classic IMO. If you're into trendier flooring like grays or excessively light/dark colors, I wouldn't recommend it and would go with LVP instead.

We got dark brown grout with super small grout lines. I'd be happy to post pics when the shirtless redneck karaoke crew finally finishes.
